But essentially, the blockchain is inherent flawed with mempools and should focus on being just a distributed ledger while accepting minor double spend risks occasionally for small risks for enormous advantages in speed and x100 quicker confirmation. The problem with bitcoin isn't it's speed necessairly but it's confirmation time and fee stucture and this is due to a lack of nodes, you increase node count by reducing the amount of txs needed to be on file by only keeping a temporary active chain of an active user than storing their balance on the ledger before deleting the active chain. It's taking the best technology of BTC, taking the smallest drawbacks while delivering the biggest gains needed for adoption.
