Morning anons. I’ve decided to go back to university. I’ll have the opportunity to take out 0% student loans. I was thinking of living with my parents for the first year regardless, and thought I might invest these loans in stocks or etfs. But I feel like that can go wrong and make me a debt slave.

Should I just avoid all the risks and focus on obtaining my education ? And then focus on investing once I have an actually decent paying job ? I think I’ll obsess too much on investing if I start now. Thoughts ?

I bought two. Both leaf stocks. Real Matters, a real estate related tech company. And CCL.B, a consumer packaging and label company. Real Matters fell a bit after my entry and I may need to cheese it out of that thing if there's index headwinds starting next week. CCL.B looks to be in decent shape. They're both good companies and both beat most recent earnings but these are swings, not long hodls.

That said, we will slowly see the world becoming one.

>But I suppose it’s probably blissful in rural areas

wrong, rural areas absolutely suck unless you're literally in some mountain village. Rural areas used to be largely farming based. They still are, but it's just so much worse because you have megacorporations who own most of the farmland instead of small independent family farms.

The result is that rural towns often have a few wealthy people and an entire impoverished underclass. Some of this underclass is lucky enough to find a job at a bar or restaraunt or retail store in the small town/rural area. The less lucky ones have to drive 30, 40, 50 miles one way each day to go to a bigger city where they can get an okay job that pays like 12 or $15 an hour.

That's it for a lot of rural communities. That's one reason drug usage has exploded in America. Foreigners have no idea how serious the drug problem is in America. Basically everyone except some conservative boomers do drugs. It's so high, rural areas are almost universally meth addicted areas. It's so goddamn sad. Imagine 2000s era wiggerdom combined with meth and other drug usage and this is what rural areas are in many parts of the US. I know it's not like this everywhere, but in a lot of the midwest and northeast this is how rural areas are. Serious cultural degeneration has happened. There are even meth addicted Amish people, although in general the Amish are much more put together and with it compared to non-amish rural communities

Yes, people are addicted to heroin and opiates as well. Depending on the rural region in the US it's either meth heavy or heroin heavy as drug of choice. I remember I went to a wedding a couple years ago in northwestern missouri, and I was talking to these guys on the bride's side and they were talking about drugs I made a joke about shrooms and they were like, "no it's that brown, dude" and I just told them to be careful. They probably weren't even 20 or 21 years old. Kids, already doing heroin. It's so fucked. I was a drug abusing millenial, still am, but no one in my group or extended group of friends does heroin or meth. I know shittons of people who smoke weed, take psychedelics or used to, people who do coke etc. But I'm lucky to live in a city among a suburban generation of kids and most people were smart enough to stay away from that shit. I know some people from high school who OD'd. Anyway, point being, drug usage in rural areas is extremely high. Back in the 70s and 80s, drug usage was primarily a city thing. If you wanted drugs even just pot you'd often have to drive to a big city and talk to some nigger or something. That's not the case as much anymore, people in rural communities turned to drug dealing as traditional economic opportunities waned. It's honestly really bad. Non americans don't know how fucked up this country is. To me it barely feels like the same country I grew up in during the 90s

>We will just crab from here.
That was my impression from the current price action but that crazy high DIX reading is curious. Market does not crab when DIX is that high. I looked through the squeeze metrics chart to find similar patterns, in particular the extreme divergence between DIX and GEX.

In recent activity, DIX went near its peak and GEX dropped towards the lower end of its range on same day on the following dates:
>April 1
>May 22
>during the dead cat on March 3 (mid range DIX peak, very low range DEX bottom)
>October 5, 2019
I can keep going but the correlation to following days S&P price action is consistent when these two data points move in this way simultaneously. Line go up some. Sometimes line go up lots, sometimes it's only a few days up before consolidation crab action.

While on the topic, the opposite scenario of GEX very high and DIX very low is an inconsistent sign of bearish reversal potential. I need to test this pattern out more but on casual glance it doesn't work as well as GEX low/DIX high. And it's all noise when both are hopping around in the middle of their ranges.

Couldn’t disagree with you any more. Literally the only thing that has been fine is the stock market and that’s because it’s being pumped and monitored. The damage is terrible and that’s with low interest rates, stimulus, pandemic assistance, and forbearance. Things are getting worse every week, these changes don’t happen over night. Our country is under a high dosage of painkillers that will not last forever. The government knows that most people think of the stock market and the real economy as being one in the same so that’s where the focus is. When the stock market was crashing people were freaking out, when it turned around they went back to normal, but the economy is decaying the entire time.

Everyone is trying to move to different fuels and engines. And slowly oil will become obsolete.

Im not saying that will happen in 10 years. These companies might enjoy another good 20 year.
Im just saying buying stock of something that is sure to fizzle out is not something I would do, since the stock price cant really rise that much under these conditions.
I mean why buy RDS when you can buy MSFT? A company at its peak vs one that we may not see peak in our life time.

Trading, or life in general, is about risk management.
Usually risk and "making a good portion" are heavily connected. The riskier you act, the more you can earn. Or lose.

But then I don't understand why it is consistently under 50%. Others are saying its dominated by things like ETFs re-balancing. So if the price of an ETF goes down more than the index, this will result in short sales of stocks. The only real thing you can know is that short sales are slightly higher right now for some reason. Maybe its because long term investors in ETFs are cashing out long term profits while individual stock picking is a meme right now and are buying the dip.

Most of the fed action was buying junk from the PPP is my guess. It kept money loose and the perception is that the fed action kept the markets up. What I think kept the markets up is players playing a game. It’s been a good 10 year run. No shame in going back down there.

Can you explain this in any more detail? I fail to see how the Fed isn't one of the players in this scenario. Or is your suggestion that the Fed is going to back off now and allow the rug pull to go forward?

The fed is just a reserve. If we don’t run out of liquidity the fed doesn’t have to do anything. Our market ran out of money. Fed printed so credit remains safe. But the debt remains. The fed can’t do anything about that. We can ride the wave of inflation to try and minimize the debt pressure by more fed intervention, but ideally we will relieve debt pressure by actually paying back debt.

This is all true.
But NASA is giving Boeing more money than SpaceX.
Also American military cannot buy Airbus shit, they have to buy Boeing.
On top of that, the 737max debacle was priced in before the corona crash.
