Crypto fag here. So I always assumed boomer stock market gains were small and conservative but after some reading lately, it seems trading options nets you insane gains that even dwarf crypto. WTF? What have you stock fags been doing this entire time? Why have you not been shouting from rooftops on /biz trying to convert us crypto fags? Do you people realize what it would take to get a 100x in crypto? I have a combined 150x lifetime and I had to do it via 20 different coins, compounding and timing it right all within a record-setting bull run environment. Meanwhile buying TSLA calls during the March 18th crash would have netted you 200x plus! WTF? That was such an obvious play too. I don't give a fuck about options = gambling meme. Do you know what us crypto bros have had to do to turn a profit post-2017? It's all gambling here and we have been more than suited to it for a long time now. There's no volatility that options present that crypto fags haven't lived through.

So please stock bros. Where do I begin with options? Right now I have downloaded thinkorswim and I am paper trading and learning all I can about options. My general theory is that between now and the upcoming election plus second wave of COVID, volatility will allow from some awesome swing opportunities. I just have to learn as much as possible right now before those opportunities occur.

Any help or suggestions? Any youtube guys to follow or sites to get news from? I need more than just an Investopedia URL.

I think you are right, but I think it will keep honking and crabbing all the way down way below March, under the coming years, just like in 1929. I don't think we have a new economy and I don't think anything is essentially different from that time when it comes to an everything bubble popping, so I think a curve down from a big bubble takes roughly the same shape every time, except that to some extent the next such curve is always somewhat shaped by better information of what previous curves looked like.
I will not be surprised if I will have to stay cash gang for years, but I can live with that. For those of you who are day traders, more power too you if you have the guts for that, and of course you don't worry as much about a crash, hopefully you are trading with portions of profits taken, but if you are a long term holder right now is not an enticing time to push your savings into the market, especially if you don't want to spend sleepless nights over when to abandon ship on an endless crab down.

Over 45% is considered notably bullish, under 35% notably bearish. We’re in a bizarre period where the DIX hit an New high since it’s been monitored, and is consistently well above 40, even above 45%. It SHOULD be bullish, but that’s From data that’s over a longer term period, like months. Things are very fast right now, so the timing might be compressed.

Or it might be bullshit. Maybe it worked once, maybe that was a fluke, maybe the functions of the market were chaiged, or may it it was always bullshit.

I’m betting we go higher today, even though parts of my brain are shouting to take money off the table.

People make 1000% gains in options buying $0.01 contracts that expire tomorrow and the stock moons/tanks overnight. The options are that cheap because it usually doesn't work. People who handle money for a living generally don't do that because they'd be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. The financial system is integral to Capital. This is not a new thing.
Capitalism historically arose alongside these financial institutions and the types of securities that are traded within the system. They are inseparable and all of the benefits of Capital are contingent on the widespread adoption of debt and the open trading of assets within a financial market.
The dutch are widely believed to be the first ones to invent Capitalism as we know it now, they also had the first real speculative bubble. It's not a coincidence, it is built into the fabric of the capitalist social structure.
You can be against finance, but it also means you're against Capitalism. Which is alright if that's what you were going for.

sure, but when you start removing these sorts of financial institutions at some point it very clearly stops being functional (without overhauling the entire system).
For example, the bond market: Corporations are dependent on raising capital through issuing bonds, which they need to do in order to meet the demand of their managers, their shareholders, and line their own pockets.
If you remove the bond market, the lack of liquidity of bonds becomes a major risk factor, decreasing the likelihood of investors taking on corporate debt. Bonds that you can't resell become high risk money pits that would need a much higher yield to make up for that lost time value.
That means corporations are unable to expand, scale or potentially innovate.
It's all a very complicated web, and finance is a major player in that web.
Of course with a planned economy, or a socialist economy, this isn't necessarily the case. But that has its own practical issues.

Personally, when I hear a normie talk about stocks, they mention stuff like "second wave of coronavirus", "shorting", and "puts." It would be an extreme sell signal if normies were talking about "buying the dip." I don't think this is a sign to buy either--its a sign that we will continue to crab / kangaroo for a lot longer than most of us are expecting. SPY will stay between 320 and 280 for months.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-16/powell-plays-down-significance-of-move-to-buy-corporate-bonds

In a back-and-forth with the Fed chairman at the hearing, Senator Pat Toomey echoed some investors in questioning why the central bank is supporting a market that has improved significantly in recent months.

“It’s not clear to me why the Fed needs to be intervening actively in the corporate bond market right now,” the Pennsylvania Republican said.

Powell agreed it is functionally substantially better and a lot of the improvement came with just announcing the formation of the credit facility.

But he said the Fed believed it should deliver on its pledge to aid in that improvement.

“I wouldn’t say it’s the main reason,” he said. “One reason is, though, we feel we need to follow through and do what we said we were going to do.”

Even in normal times, put it all in TQQQ or similar and you'll get 50% CAGR even through the dips; up to >200% in a good year. Even the best daytraders (e.g. which aren't restricted with what they can trade because they can leverage sufficiently large positions to hit their profit targets even on very expensive shares, and which have very high expected returns) can hardly hit 50% on a good year.
