Started mining it and trading it back and forth for invites to different torrent sites back in the day.
Didn't expect the payoff would be this big but i'm not complaining.

Spending $199 on some USB ASICs a few years back, mining for giggles when it was worthless.. then checking the balance years later - $4k in BTC.

My only mistake was to stop mining. Even going another few months would have netted me another $4k or so. I started again with a $10k investment in mining hardware this time, and this time I'm not turning them off or getting bored with it, I'll just upgrade them when they are too inefficient.

I mint around 2 BTC a year currently. Not bad for something that I basically forget about for weeks at a time.

I'm holding the bulk of my BTC, day-trading a small chunk of it for giggles as the market is so up and down. Day-trading nets around 2% per month, so that's not a bad return for a few minutes per day.

Rest of my money is in silver/gold (physical in hand), local real estate, or the normie stock market

Feels good

what are mining costs? i hear it's expensive to run but really do not know much about it. guessing you must be breaking even or no point in the hassle.

I was 13 in 2014 and my parents didn't want to give me any money. We were also pretty poor. That's the whole reason. So I started looking into ways to make money online, found bitcoin, started claiming every pajeet airdrop on bitcointalk and now years later I have 30k LINK, 32 ETH and have a strong disdain for (((them))). So yeah, thanks 4chin.

i read an article about it in 2010 read the whitepaper and i was like wow this shit is brilliant.
price was around $10 at the time when i tried to get into mining. but the math never added up i needed free hardware or free electricity to turn a profit. little did i know where the price would be later on. seemed like a fine equilibrium.

>>19772149
You do need cheap electricity or you can go broke mining.. mine is so cheap that I consider it's cost a paltry sum towards my future investment. I also did immersion cooling, so 1/2 of the year the miners supply my heat for my house. It hooks into an old boiler system quite well... better payback than solar.

Some guy in special ed class started talking about it, didn't know wtf he was talking about at the time. Bought btc for tor-purposes for 100, still didn't know the scarcity at the time. Made some money during 2017 br, invested 80% of my money since in hopes I can retire on btc + chain.
