what's the use of having a mainnet without staking being active? the sole reason we don't have staking is because serg needs a critical number of kyc'd and thus trusted nodes to prevent a bunch of loose canons fucking things up during the first couple of days where there are no established and functioning nodes to reliably provide consensus. not sure where that critical number is at but it won't be more than a few hundred. when that's sorted out we get staking.
that's going to be before 2021

Chainlink was supposed to cut the middleman and make everything 100x simpler, cheaper and effective.

In reality everything is just opposite. Chainlink is complicated, expensive and needs a fucking army of lawyers, auditors and smart contract experts to confirm that some crypto price feed is flawless.

Can you calculate how much this ETH/USD aggregator spends in eth and link node fees in one month?
https://etherscan.io/address/0x79febf6b9f76853edbcbc913e6aae8232cfb9de9

>> No.19767313

>>19767301
That contract asks ETH/USD price every 20 min which makes about 2160 request per month. One request means 1 ETH transaction and 21 LINK nodes so the total cost is

2160*(ETH tx fee + 21*LINK node fee) ~ 2160*(0.02*$270 + 21*0.33*$4.27) = $75,600

Seventy five fucking thousand dollars for one price feed per month!

https://feeds.chain.link/
No wonder Chainlink team pays for Synthetix to use their shit. Seriously this is total FUBAR.

LIBRA :

LIBRA doesnt need LINK oracles : https://decrypt.co/25776/facebooks-libra-to-launch-stablecoins-for-each-major-currency?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rdt

Read the NEW libra Mechanics section: it has 1:1 reserves of the cash and short term sovereign (A/AA+) debt for that particular denomination: so, for example, if there are 2 libra coins and each libra is backed by a basket of .5 euro and .5 dollar there are a dollar and a euro backing these two libra. Where is the oracle in this situation? FB chooses the ratio of currencies backing it as they see fit. Centralized. No need for data feeds, self contained.

Believe me, I’m pissed about it too, been holding since ICO and I thought libra was the best chance at massive enterprise scale demand for the network

‘Independent validator’ is a node. They have members in the libra community; they will run nodes. These members are things like banks. The nodes envisioned by calibra are for their blockchain. They validate changes to calibra. Not bring data onto it.

Calibra gutted any chance for speculative adoption. I’m pissed

As a developer today you can implement working and reliable Chainlink price feeds with ease. Almost like drag and drop. This may seem like nothing now. But this is definitely a accomplishment. And shows that they already were successful in solving a chick and egg problem. Of course there was and is a lot of buttfuckery things to consider and implement to even achieve that. Like you said, lawyers, additors etc and all kinds of bandaid solutions to make it work on the small scale it currently does. but serg is on the right track offloading this on his back and providing bezos tier always act on customer needs and provide the best value to him/ make it easy for him

LINK literally has one developer who was a film student in Guangzhou City who wrote a thesis on the post-war Polish cinema of the 1980's. He was obsessed with the film A Short Film About Love (1988) and watched it dozens of times, feeling a kindred connection with the shy, obsessive, and out-of-sorts protagonist. Much of his life at the time reflected the protagonist's own experience as he fell in love with a woman living in the apartment building across from his own.

The developer would spy upon her through a pair of binoculars every evening as she would carouse with her partner. He found a way to open the lock on her door using a kitchen fork and would frequently enter her apartment to learn some aspects of her life, as in the Cantonese film Chungking Express. He found on her partner's computer that he was heavily invested in cryptocurrencies and through extension of this became interested himself. His evenings were consumed with learning how to code the coins, taking breaks only to gaze upon the beautiful woman from across the way.

Eventually he gained enough knowledge to begin his own cryptocurrency ChainLINK which became wildly popular. In this time the woman got married to her partner and the developer attempted suicide (as in the Polish film). After leaving the hospital he came upon the news that her partner had disappeared mysteriously. Apparently he had borrowed money which he couldn't pay back and now he was gone without a trace. The developer felt a new vigor for life and coding. He rebranded LINK and gave it the moniker 'the Oracle solution.' To this day he is developing the coin in the hopes of attracted the woman he's been spying on for years.

you retards actually think you have fundamentally analyzed link and are some sort of elite investor. You know about link because its been shilled to fucking death on this shitty board with terrible infographics and extremely far reaching claims with no evidence. I guarantee none of you have actually even tried to use the mainnet or have even considered the token economics at play here. The mainnet is a piece of trash centralized (it uses one source) API scraper that uploads data into a non self executable smart contract. A fifteen year old could write the code to do this, it tests nothing envisioned in the whitepaper. Now for the token economics 35% of the total supply is in the hands of Sergey himself. The top 100 wallets control 85% of the supply of this coin and it's not exchanges. Binance, the biggest exchange owns ~2% of total supply. Your investment can be quite literally wiped out overnight without a moments notice. Going all into this project is probably one of the stupidest things you can do with your money but retards like you keep lining up thinking you are the next Warren Buffet. Chainlink is so far from a sure thing.

I love it how all you gullible fucks think you've already made it just by purchasing a bunch of meme tokens on a meme cat picture trading platform which does nothing just because a bunch of anons on a kosovo organ trading board said they will be worth a lot someday. Their arguments sound so convincing, so well researched, but the painful truth is that you've been fooled into investing in a honey-worded fairytale of a solution to a problem that isn't even needed outside its whimsical world of princesses and dragons. Starting to notice the pattern? I mean, the project leader is a fucking philosopher for fuck's sake.

Sadly, BTC is failing to make higher highs and will probably go in a prolonged bear market if it fails this rally. Add to that that everyone and his mother is expecting another bullrun due to the halving based on past experience. This could mean that crypto as a whole might fail, as if you like it or not BTC is still regarded as crypto's pulse. So, in short, if crypto stays a thing I think that Chainlink might moon, but if crypto fails there's just no use for Chainlink.

I guess if a the fkippeninh actually happens and institutions start relying on decentralised settlement layers, sure, Link could moon independently of BTC.

And it hasn't been proven that crypto markets have reversed their 10 year trend

We are literally on track, a long accumulation period just like the previous cycle, setting higher lows along the way.
Nothing indicates the crypto market is "dying" except impatient faggots wanting to go straight to 100k this year.
