Time in the Market beats Timing the Market, right guys?

>> No.19709240

it doesn't, but timing the market correctly is impossible for most so for the average investor you are better off just hodling

look at monthly chart and you'll see there's regular peak and trough at around the same date
come in and out accordingly
ignore march 2020, not a regular market

I started investing two years ago.
I have 80% ETFs, 15% low and mid cap stocks and 5% BTC contract gambling on Bitmext. So far I out down 7k and I’m at 12k.
My best choices were Northern Data AG and Sasol. The worst choice was Bitmex but it’s fun.

How could you possibly be down right now on a buy and hold strategy unless you bought literal garbage?

>> No.19710061

Sizing trumps everything. No position has ever been truly bad, it has only been sized wrong. Sizing is everything. With proper sizing, entry doesn't matter. With proper sizing, what you trade doesn't matter. With incorrect sizing, nothing you trade will ever matter.

bit of a retarded looking strangle my dude

>> No.19710202

not a strangle, it's quite advance options strategy
look at performance, up 50% ytd

>> No.19710256

>>19710202
yeah it's just covered calls and far ITM puts, you could probably reduce your cost basis quite a bit desu

>> No.19710292

>>19710256
nice
commonly covered calls usually done with strike above the stock price but i use deep itm because aapl will dump next week and i will profit from the call by closing them while the stock swing down
the deep itm puts are like synthetic stock, it's like playing with house money i don't have to pay for margin interest but since it's so deep itm the delta is 1 it's like i own 100 stocks
i don't chase theta at all, i make tens of thousands from delta compared to only thousands if i play theta strategy or wheeling

dude.. up 50% ytd

>> No.19710409

Well that's true for general uptrend markets of course. In a very volatile environment as i see today's markets, this is not necessarily the case.

I hope it continues to work for you. I'm netting ~50% on my credit spread positions since march too, with much less cost basis
