STOCK MARKET CHADS. how much did you make today? i'm up double digits on just buying and holding stocks. i bet all of the discord tranny shitcoiners are seething. all of these gains with incredible liquidity. no paying street shitters and NEETs to pump a coin so a $10 gain can be realized. just sitting back and letting the money roll the fuck in.

Got a bunch more
Worst pos -15%, it's firstenergy
I buy and hold a mixture of large, mid, and international with dividend preference. Although some of the too performers are no divs. Ideas outside of the normal criteria I limit to no more than 2% nav at purchase
The goal is to track SPX but smoother and increasingly divergent. Basically, I want to keep the correlation high but still grind higher over time. It's been going that way for 8 months

Chart shows the idea better.
The way I'm trying to do this is to keep a portfolio that is highly similar to a basket of the heaviest SPX components with some additional spice thrown in when I feel like it
I rebalance when needed, it tends to be monthly, the goal of that is to keep the highest total % performers as the highest market value positions (such that the worst losers are the smallest positions). Ideally I want the list of positions ranked by % return to be identical to the ranking by market value

Just think of them as contracts, you're buying contracts with money up front, the strike price is the minimum amount to cover the upfront cost of the contract otherwise you lose your money.

You're holding 100 stocks, not owning, so anything above the strike or below if you short is yours, with the surplus money you can exercise to call and actually own at a discount compared you the current market price, people here are afraid to buy options here because they don't understand them, go find a penny stock and buy small contracts and fuck with them, the worst that can happen is someone actually assign you and you have to actually buy 100 stocks to give it to them.

But options is where the action is at, Robin hood has training wheels so you don't create contracts with possible infinite losses, I need to learn how to short properly, if you become good at short you can make money in any weather, whether the stock is going up, down, side to side you can still make bundles

.... or lose it all

As far as the risk goes it seems sensible that to beat the benchmark I must be taking more risk than the benchmark. An obvious flaw in this strat is that it might tend to allocate too much to a few positions. I try to counter it by introducing new names every so often. Want to keep positions to less than 10% nav. I'm finding that if I stick hard to it there is a margin built around the best positions that shields me from downside. And when downs happen the rebalance buying comes in which is what's really causing the divergence I think.

Don’t go all in on Hertz.
> “If you look at the markets in general, people don’t know where to put their money. They are like ‘Hey, I’m going to try that $1 stock,”’ said Ruddy, who now works in sales for SC Lowy Financial HK Ltd.On Tuesday, J.C. Penney shareholders will press a federal judge to appoint a court-approved committee to represent them in the bankruptcy case. Getting official status would mean forcing the retailer to pay for lawyers and financial advisers who would work on behalf of shareholders. Judges rarely grant such requests for two reasons: The legal fees can be expensive and under the so-called absolute priority rule, all the debt of a company must be paid before shareholders can collect anything.

Some of the rally in bankrupt shares might be attributable to short covering, when traders who have bet against a company close their positions by re-buying shares, lifting prices. But the rally could also be fueled by amateur traders, bored in lockdown and looking for a quick buck, using platforms such as Robinhood. The number of Robinhood users holding both Hertz and Whiting Petroleum shares surged after the companies filed for bankruptcy, according to Robintrack, a website unaffiliated with the stock trading platform that uses data to show trends.

Under U.S. bankruptcy law, shareholders are last in line for any kind of payout -- behind the lawyers, lenders, and vendors -- making a recovery for shares unusual. The size and scope of payouts is usually determined by a so-called Chapter 11 plan, which creditors vote on and send to a federal judge for approval. Those plans often leave even high-ranking creditors getting less than they’re owed.
Hertz, which climbed 95% since it filed bankruptcy on May 22J.C. Penney, up 167% since May 15Whiting Petroleum, up 835% since April 1

Don’t listen to him. He doesn’t know what a chapter 11 is or how bankruptcies work.
American Airlines filed bankruptcy in 2011 and within 2 years, their stock reached an ATH
he is just a newfaggot
You need to follow how many layoffs a company is doing. For example , Latin American Airlines (LTM- great stock to buy now) just did a chapter 11.. they only laid off 1800 people out of 41,000.
Hertz is just taking advantage of the CARES act which also covers asset protection in bankruptcies, so basically they are just scamming the system.
If I was you, I wouldn’t hold it very long. Don’t expect it to really moon much more.

How's it feel breaching 6 figures?

Still feels like nothing changed. Guess cause my goal is to reach a high enough amount to retire myself, siblings, and parents. 500k is the first goal. With that amount I can do safer plays to gain more. Or risky plays with a "small amount" that would hurt more if I had less and it failed

Well Latin American Airlines is a Chilean company so it doesn’t apply to them, so it doesn’t apply. But delta did buy a 20% stake in Latam and the Chilean government and a brazilian company are in talks with bailing it out. trust me, buy LTM before it’s too late . Right now I’m expecting to minimum 4x maximum 5x

Seems achievable to reach, especially if these pumps continue. Nonetheless the more money you have the easier it becomes in turning it into more.

As for the day trading thing idk how that will work out as I find that risky.

Same here.. seems like this grab bag will be over in about 1 or 2 more months.

I have my finger on the trigger to sell as soon as the are some pre-crisis level pullbacks. For instance AAL went all the way to $8 something from $30 losing 76% super quick. It's now at 20.30 which is 41% from pre-crisis. Once it hits 31.50 it's only 10 percent down.

There are a bunch of stocks following a similar pattern, but look at stocks like TMUS and EA, LOW, HD which got back to original levels and then surpassed it..

Can airlines and travel companies do that? I don't know.

I do a variant of the barbell strategy. Short term holds, options and volatile positions on one end, vanguard etfs, blue chips and dividend stocks on the other. I keep them in separate accounts and funnel about half my gains to the long term account. Any losses in the trading account get topped off from income rather than selling my actual investments.
