So I fibbed. I bought in end of April with 6k USD. Baby's first stonks. I consider my 40% gains temporary and know it will retrace. My strategy involved picking companies that have lasting value. Depends on what you mean by low. Covid has 1.2% IFR (don’t drag up some old report based on the first, unreliable serology tests saying IFR is lower) compared to 0.1% for a bad flu year. Covid has about 73% deaths over 65 years old, normal flu has about 83% over 65 years old.

Most of /smg/ has it right: buy at close, sell at open. Kinda. There's actually a strongly predictive TA pattern right before open that shows the direction SPY will trade until about 12:00, when the direction sometimes reverses, so I decide whether to hold into the open or sell at 9:30 based on that. The only missing piece is how to predict if tomorrow's gap will be up or down, but in the meantime, weekly options insulate you to a couple bad days and generally become profitable before expiry, so I just buy one more set of options at EOD even if I'm holding onto the previous ones waiting to turn a profit.

JNJ and KO are two of my favorite great American companies, those and PEP and MRK are what I bought in the crash when I sold other things that bounced back harder.

I just use their chat service so I dont have to talk to a human being. I only have an IRA though, I would switch over if they didn't have fees for options trading

How much money do I need to get into day trading?
I've been fucking around with a couple thousand in some month long holds and have made about 25% back but would like some quicker returns.

That's the only thing I don't like. They'll approve me for margin, but won't let me buy fucking calls/puts. I've applied several times for level 2 options.

There are three types of people here that have serious capital:
1. Rich kids who are fucking around with their parents money.
2. Boomers with well paying jobs, they're typically more responsible with their trades than the rich kids but they can still be retarded as fuck, just look at Baggie.
3. People who are actually good at investing/trading. This is the smallest group here and their voices are overpowered by all the idiots and Zoomers YOLOing with their lunch money.

True. I had a CM account at fidelity, but learned you couldn't get margin or buy options in it so I just opened a regular brokerage with margin. Just transferred shares over so I'm waiting on everythign to settle.

I'm in IT, contract work. I make a little under 6 figures. I'm up to over $100k in assets, but a chunk of that is equity in my house. It's more like $75k in liquid assets, but a lot of that are in tax advantaged retirement accounts

I used to be a left-wing retard and worked a dead end job and complained about my useless college degree.

I came to my senses and realized you are what you make of yourself. I busted my ass and slowly moved through better jobs.

I had racked up an assload of credit card debt being irresponsible. I paid it all off in about a year by going hard as fuck and spending almost all of my paycheck on paying off debt as soon as I had a decent job.

Basically I ended up a libertarian and am much more successful because I changed my worldview and lifestyle choices

thanks for reading my blog

I feel you brother, I followed some of Dave Ramsey's principles getting out of debt. I don't agree with him on a lot of things, but if you actually follow his plan you can dig yourself out.

My base salary is about $50k but with extra jobs I make about 75k-100k.

I have all of my extra jobs direct deposited into my investment accounts and live off of my regular job. I took some huge L's on the corona penny stock memes, but recently invested into some casino stocks and upro and am slowly coming back.

Only debt I have is my house and I have a credit card that I buy gas and stuff on, but pay it off every month.

I love DR's principles, but he is wrong on a lot of stuff. However, he is right that most people are retards and will tear you a new one for "investing in the market" cause "you'll lose all your money" but will go pay the bank 5% interest to finance a depreciating asset (vehicles). Then they wonder why they are always broke.
