19564358 No.19564358 [Reply] [Original]

This is getting fucking ridiculous LINK volume has pretty much dissapear, coinbase pro shows in the past 24h only 600k LINK has been traded. Depth charts on most exchanges are showing massive sell pressure, and here we are bouncing between 4.34 - 4.37 for the past 24H.

Alright fags, right place, right time for you again. I’ve dropped this once before a while ago, decided to hop on /biz/ after almost a year and i’ll drop it again. I work in a closely related financial industry and can tell you with ~80% certainty what is going on here.

There are private quantitative funds, all of them I know are partner money, no outside investors because it is a legal grey area(illegal in securities trading). They purchase bulk tokens from shitcoin teams for pennies on the dollar, depending on the project. I’ve heard of them paying as low as 1/10 of market price and as high as 8/10 of market price. They have backend data on all the exchanges they operate on, exchanges like Kucoin, Binance, Huobi. They can see all of your orders, stops, margin, trading history, etc. They pay these exchanges large sums of money for this data. They use this data to make the market for the shitcoin they purchased and get a return on thier investment by propping up prices while slowly selling into retail demand. Some even operate in astroturfing campaigns, but not any I am personally aware of.

Regarding Chainlink, I have a strong suspicion this is happening. It goes something like this, private quant fund reaches out to token team, offer them their service. The teams almost always accept because if they were to sell the tokens themselves on the market, the price would crash. So they perform a bulk OTC deal, usually settled in BTC or Tether, team is either paid in full upfront or with the riskier shitcoins the fund will just take a cut of the profit and the team will front them what they want to sell. Chainlink had an explosive rise in not only price, but volume when the 700,000 token transfers began happening. I am highly confident Chainlink is working with one of these funds to offload tokens.

This is not inherently a bad thing, a team needs capital to continue working. Wait for another 700K transfer and watch what happens. I’ll answer q’s.

I don’t know the answer to that question. Legitimate projects do this and so do scammy projects. It is better for the holders of the coin if a fund like this manages the selling, they are extremely smart and have access to tools you wouldn’t believe. Most of them are repurposed equities algos, but some purpose built software definitely exists now.
