It's funny how one of the main arguments against Sergey is his age, despite the fact that Szabo and multiple others said they fought Satoshi was young back when they first talked to him. A lot of people argue that satoshi's code was too good for being so young DESPITE the fact that satoshi's code was considered by real experts to be "good" but not "genius".
Satoshi's genius wasn't his coding. It was his personal philosophies and theories on how to accomplish that through blockchain that was truly genius.
Personally i think he was talking to Hal Finney and maybe even saw him as a mentor figure. When Hal's health went to shit, obviously the young Sergey bailed from Bitcoin because he didn't have the confidence (or experience) as a young man to run the most revolutionary invention of his time. It also makes sense that when he moved on to "new projects" as satoshi mentioned, that he would try to tackle the BIGGEST issue holding back cryptocurrencies from taking over the world (The Oracle Problem).
This time, however, Satoshi has the experience AND the vision to lead his project to completion and revolutionize the world.
