Too many retail people are shorting and/or putting in buy orders to exit their shorts or go long the market. There aren't enough different participants in the market, so when the relative handful of retail traders/investors that don't have their money in a mutual fund decide to sell and they put all their sell orders in, the market will drop without their orders being filled. Same deal in the opposite direction if they're looking to buy and they put their buy orders in, the market will do its best not to fill them. U.S. stock prices are 100% rigged. Those in power can set the price to whatever they want, whenever they want. They move it in the direction that will reap them the most profit and that tends to be against whatever retail is doing. There's a good reason everyone wants to buy retail order flow. It's also not because retail is necessarily "dumb money" at this point, it's just market homogeneity makes it profitable to collude against everyone outside your (((club))). The structure incentivizes it.
