In any case, solving the identity problem is a major need for many use cases and Idena's approach is novel and better than alternatives like SSI requiring you to send documents forged by central authorities (i.e. passport, license, etc.).

It's obviously not a scam but anons are pissed their identity got killed so it's understandable. Who knows if it will work out in the end, but the experimental nature of the project means this is not unexpected and it still solves a major problem in a truly decentralized and trustless way which is something no other identity layer has done so far.
