I don’t know what to do with the money in my bank. I currently have 3k in stocks and more in a 401k. I don’t need this bank money, but I don’t want to actually risk losing it.
Is putting it all into Vanguard a good idea?

Take half and put it into one single Vanguard ETF to minimise fees. Do it in one transaction to minimize brokerage.
Let it sit for a month and see how it feels.

Non-meme answer: If you can't afford to lose it (as in, it's your emergency fund if you lose your job), then you should put it in something like a high interest savings account. People laugh at "buy high, sell low", but if you have no buffer when an economic crisis occurs (e.g. you lose your job after a >20% dump like happens once in a while) then you're forced to sell at a loss, making your boomer parents sad and Warren Buffet happy as he buys your undervalued stocks from you.

As to how to allocate your stocks money, whatever you like but index funds have pretty good historical returns. No potential of mooning, though, so if you want high-risk/high-reward aka lotto tickets you'd have to roll your own.
