Swing to EURN. High divvies and confirmed buybacks. Sucks you missed this rally on it, but probably a lot more to come and/or divvy security. Divvy is very soon too. EURN is the perfect "I want a tanker but don't want to deal with the tanker bullshit" stock right now.

TNP has earnings in a week, other than that just bear in mind it's volatile as shit (moreso than the others). If you have brass balls it's pretty fun - don't go all in though because it bucks hard.

EURN, as footanon says >>19348463, is a fairly low risk option (comparative to the others) - good divvies and a solid position in the tanker market. Run by a fairly competent Belgian mob.

thanks. I didn't want to recommend DHT because it seems like there's a lot of fun games going on there. STNG is going to be pretty volatile, but probably a good pick, FRO seems too hot, INSW might play like STNG but I like it a lot less. TNP and EURN seem like the way to go. Backing some out into cash might be a good idea too.

NAT has the third weakest fleet of all tankers, it has no VLCC's (the big boys which rake in the most profits), no product tankers neither, it is all suezmax's. It's divvy is also less than the others at this point percentage wise by far....except STNG but STNG is special. But worst of all, it has the highest retail segment of any tanker. It is floated more by retail than anything else, while other tankers are floated mostly by institutions and hedgies. Basically, it is the weakest, least profitable, and the least liked by hedgies. The fact that many brokers offer only NAT is why hedgies stay away from it, because screw retail. Also the CEO acts like a car salesman.

>> No.19348614

Oh, and to add to that, it was shilled the hardest and even now is up the highest% of all tankers since prior to the crisis. Meaning it has the least room for growth as well.

There's some really interesting information in here relating to market cycles and so on (there's a lot of gumph too). One of the things that jumped out was the point about smaller ships - during downturns the roles flip and they end up pulling the strongest rates instead of the biggies. If we're anticipating a drawback towards Q4, diversified fleets could be king.

The bear thesis is that due to the convertible note issuance recently that thousands of people holding millions of notes will all at once short the stock, reach before conversion price, then cash in and dilute shares more as it tanks and they make more money. Convertible notes will over time dilute the shares, but the entire notion that the stock will tank and forever stay down is essentially based on the thesis of a conspiracy rather than how these notes usually carry out.

So if you don't think that a group of evil super wealthy men have nothing better to do than manipulate the stock and tank it to 0 through an abuse of shorting + senior note conversions, then DHT is still a buy. Is it the best buy? Arguably not anymore, EURN and FRO and STNG are better. Especially since DHT has no fleet diversification. But is DHT bad and/or not gonna recover/profit? No, of course it will go up, a good deal up according to its value regardless of dilution over time. It's only bad if you think people are gonna game the system all at once on a stock that is making fist fulls of money.

Well. If this is the worst they got then it is already over and it is only up from here. If not, then if not now then probably won't ever do the conspiratorial massive sell-and-dilute-palooza. If not the former, then it been going down on either a few bad actors who are finished or bad expectations. Either way I doubt we will reach the previous bottom.

Had little reason in the first place. The bull thesis on the notes is that it helps pay off even more debt and considering Q2 has insane earnings coming in, and despite rates falling at tail end now of Q2 we see DHT ships still getting 80k when rates are supposed to be 40k for VLCC's, the idea is their financial situation may become insanely good compared to historical tanker asset-debt ratios. DHT, as scummy as they might be, are competent financially. So I am not scared to hold. I might sell in the future if I profit while others I wouldn't give up still period, but I am not scared.

We might be. Give it a few days to know if we indeed are at the Big Port.

I've got 1000 to dump into long hold tankers, EURN and FRO both look good. Which one do y'all think would be best?

FRO has that sweet dividend, getting all my money back in 3 years would be very nice. EURN sounds safer based off of what ive seen though

RSI was blown out on multiple timeframes. DHT may try to shit the bed more. I kinda doubt it because the entire sector got a boost.

STNG is fine. Nothing can stop the "oh god, less than half NAV!" part of it. They can dilute shares by 100% and still have value above where they are.
