Anyone else have investments in the form of firearms? What are your picks? Unfortunately most firearms are poor investments, but there are some foolproof ways to come out ahead in my eyes:

>Registered Transferrable Machine Guns
The only machine guns legal to own in the US needed to be manufactured and registered before the 1986 law banning them from production. This has led to artificial scarcity that causes pic related (a bent coat hanger with a serial number) to fetch $20k+ at an auction. Barring the repeal of this law, they will probably double in price each decade.

>Imported Firearms
Any gun that is currently/recently being imported will eventually stop being brought in and go up in value. Good examples are Bulgarian AKs, and some Russian imports after being sanctioned. Rifles that used to cost ~$800 can now go for $2-3k easily.

>Military Surplus
All milsurp eventually dries up and people will start paying top dollar for what used to be actual trash. For example, "Garbage Rod" Mosins and bubbafucked SKS rifles. Used to be able to buy them by the crate for what a single bad condition example can bring now.

>Short Run or Short Company Life
Anything that is limited edition or the company failed will become a collectors item in the future. Keep an eye on the Hudson H9.

yeah, pretty much what you just stated already though.

I only buy imported guns, have a nice bulgarian AKS74u factory SBR. HK SP5K, some older collectible automatic pistols etc.

I wish i bought a registered MG when i had the cash but at the time i just thought it would be a waste of money/didnt want to deal with NFA paperwork.

Bought two Mosins when they were 79 apiece. WW2 replicas plus they kick like a fucking elephant. Now you cant find one under 300+.

If I wasnt poor as fuck when I bought them I wouldve ordered a case full as they were obviously going to increase in price.

>most firearms are poor investments
Most guns go up in value over time even after you use them, but yes you will not be making any significant money because if you engage in volume buying/selling you better have your shit in order or spread your ass when the ATF comes knocking. You are better off investing if you want faster returns and just enjoy shooting as a hobby and sell guns for profit when you are bored with them. Keeping your eyes open for really good deals wont make you rich just make you a few bucks. Or make a time machine and go back and buy crates of mosins and sks for pennies on the dollar.

That said if you are an american and don't own even a single gun and regularly train with it WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE

Depending on the location you might still be in luck. One of the most extensive firearm collections on /k/ is located in Switzerland. A lot of euro countries make you jump through insane hoops, but if you're a legit "collector" you can get away with a lot that even us burgers can't own.

I'd even be curious about buying deactivated weapons if I was a European. In a lot of EU countries the barrel is the registered part, and I often see a lot of highly desirable receivers and parts in the EU that I just wish I could import. A lot of the de-mill process can be easily reverted by a competent gunsmith or with replacement parts purchased elsewhere.

>>19185058
That SP5k is staring me down right now. I know I need to buy it while I still can, but just hard to cough up the $3k. I should know better though because I have no problems putting $3k behind some worthless shitcoin.

>>19185059
At least you bought some. I remember finger fucking Russian milsurp at the LGS with my dad as a kid. He never was interested in "those trash commie guns" for $59.99.

>>19185094
Depending on when "just" is you may have already appreciated in value on the WASR. Waiting for any day now when they retail for $1k plus.

As for the coat hanger, it's a registered drop in auto sear. Someone diy'd it and paid the $200 tax stamp back in 1980's, so now in the eyes of the US Govt, that piece of metal is a full fledged machine gun.

I sold my vintage rifles in April and bought silver and gold.

PMs will hedge against inflation more than old rifles using ammo thats already in scarce supply.

Id rather sell silver or gold to a coin shop than meet up to sell guns when/if times get difficult.

Look man it's not something I fantasize about, I have no love of violence. I know it's necessary now but that's a sad thing

Seems like a pretty successful return on investment depending on how long you owned them for. It's been the perfect time to convert less desirable arms into assets, while scooping up desirable items at great prices due to panic. Interested to see how things will play out as we head into the election.

very nice anon I would have sold the sks as well considering its very outdated by now when you can build a quality AR for cheap. Im still keeping mine for now but only cause I got it for $100 and it has some trench markings on it so I like it, probably saw action in the balkans. Where did you buy your silver and gold? I have done half assed research into it and it scares me cause it all seems like Im getting scammed either online or by stores that sell it, any info/links would be appreciated. I just sold a PSL for $600 more than what I bought it for after using it for over a year and I'm sitting on the cash.
