Can I be a WoW neet in a years time??

Who else plans on just being a based WoW next when they make it?

I've always wanted to retire and play an MMO for the rest of my days, but that was back when WoW was still new and amazing. idk what I'd do now.

That's probably enough money to live off of for a year, wouldn't be very comfortable.

WoW gets boring after like 20 days play time though. Not enough to do.

You can already make $5-$20/day playing a lot of cryptogames. That's enough to pay the bills while being a full time gamer. Check out Kingdomsbeyond as an example, though it's still in alpha.

MMOs are a dead genre.

I always dreamed of getting rich and spending the rest of my life traveling around the world to exotic locations only to spend my time holed up in my fancy AirBnB playing some treadmill MMO.

Nostalrius ruined classic wow.

Everyone had a guild going into classic so there was no new relationships. Also min/maxing ruins the experience. If there was a way to mix up the mechanics/needed resistances that would save wow

I was excited for classic relaunch and pretty quickly got to 60. Then we cleared all of MC in a pug with like 30 people - 6 or 7 of which were lvl 58-59. Everyone in trash gear. Logged out after the raid and canceled the subscription. It really was just nostalgia after all. The magic is gone and will never return. Stop chasing the dragon and you will be happier.

Serious question,
what comes after World Of Warcraft in vidya?
Ever since WoW came out no other game seemingly had that immersion factor. No other game on earth probably has more playtime per unique player and playtime in total than WoW accumulated over the years.
But what could succeed WoW?
VR unfortunately is still in its early stages and it seems like we're decades away from something even remotely close to Ready Player One.

Anyone that will play something other than WoW has left a long time ago.

Anyone that is still playing WoW will probably keep playing until the inevitable WoW2.0.

>> No.19139433

>>19138988
My dream is that once VR gets really good we will see a sequel (or spiritual successor) to WoW that requires all real-motion inputs. The physical exertion will mean you can't play for extended periods of time because it will actually be physically demanding. Imagine grouping up with all of your buddies to slay dragons and you all end up getting in shape while doing it. The best groups would be people that were actually in shape and fat slobbish neckbeards would actually be at a huge disadvantage. It would moderate the amount of time people play, but also encourage fitness.

>> No.19139488

It would have to be fun enough to demand that much physical work. I'd be down if it were damn good.

jokes aside tho, i've been playing VR since 2017, first vive now index, so it was always room scale.
room scale is fun for a while but once you realize the limits (you always know you need to pay attention not to hit a wall etc.), it's not any better for immersion than sitting play. the game i played the most is no man's sky with it's extremely flaw'd VR that's less worked out than that of free indie games, even the hud doesn't turn with you you need to constantly adjust your view with the joystick. regardless you see nothing but the world and can get immersed if you want to. i bet you the most successful VR games will offer sitting play just because it's more convenient once the novelty of room scale wares off.
even hardcore VRChat players with literal full body tracking will use a chair and use 3rd party software that maps their sitting movements as if they were standing.

This. Back in 07 I always imagined if I made it I would just get a nice big house with a pool and play MMO's all day. I would work out still and hire a personal trainer for 4 days a week. On the weekends I would go HAM and drink/get girls.

I have to say I don't think too much would change other than I would probably be playing some type of FPS. Also, I know the value of managing wealth so I would probably care for my investments more.

I joined one of the servers that launched two weeks or so after Classic launched, and so I got to experience the new relationships part. It was really fun - getting lost in Wailing Caverns with people who mostly had no idea what they were doing. I quit right as I got to the point where I was ready to start raiding because I could tell the fun was nearly over, and that turned out to be doubly true because the honor system launched the week after and that turned into a huge shitshow.
