There’s a LOT of filler, especially Tyler and Kelly’s shows. And I’m not sure just how full of shit the najarians are. I used to watch halftime but I’ve watched too many of them smile and give out terrible advice. Shilling bags, trying to look smart or like they’re friends of the little guy... ugh

Traders shouldn't be buying stocks. They should be selling puts or calls.
For investors I generally would agree with this. For the purposes of putting something into an IRA you really can't beat index funds. Mutual funds, generally, are not worth it. I think there is something to be said for keeping on the lookout for unnecessarily beat down stocks that are high value but to buy them if they are starting to improve or when the market settles if its the result of a crash. Starbucks got slammed after 2008 and they had nothing whatsoever to do with mortgages or bank crises. Just buying that when it was 12 dollars, nearly 2 years later and holding would have given you 600% returns. But that requires an extreme degree of patience and knowledge most people don't want to put in. Just look at a lot of posters in this thread.
Investing is also not so much a focus of this general. There is much more to talk about day to day with trading.

No, just an entertainment. Nobody who manages money or tries to trade to advance himself is watching this shit. The thing is there are trading platforms who have live TV embedded in the user interface. Really, a common sense. Offering CNBC to broadcast to "tens of thousands" of platform users, they can't resist. Also, a great factor is boomers. They are used to get their news from the TV and TV only. Modern day managers and traders use wire services like AP, AFP, Reuters, Bloomberg depending on the region they are vested in. They are fucking expensive to buy which is good for tax deductions.

Or, as Cramer says, to try and buy best of breed stocks at a discount.

exactly, he's basically talking about long only long term hodl. There's few problems with it ofc, look at diff between SPY and equal weight ETF price, he's right, majority companies go lower, few go higher. But thats an issue not a solution since we have record % of SP500 in 5 companies, 1 fucking % has enormous holding compared to 99% in index. And this 1% deflates and crater fast. Remember, it took years for indexes to recover.
And that brings me to my main point, altho I would not be against newbie frens going all in on index only, I believe, I live and invest based on cycles. While market is down, Ive been majority gold, cash and crypto for 18-30 months. Why? Because economy and markets are cyclical not linear and therefore while 500s are down YTD, bonds and gold are storming ATHs , by swapping stocks for these your wealth does not correct and my choice of assets in 2018 was not a fucking luck but global econ vision.

In our faster times its more like 10 quarters but still. Its a play that only works on one part of economic cycle. they will, but you also have to see that asset based carriers are going to be raising rates across the board as well. what i'm telling you is carriers are taking freight for lower rates just to keep the wheels turning for now. The thing is there's just not as much freight moving right now. also every publicly traded carrier worth a damn is also a 3pl. so just throw together a little watch list and wait. I mean sure you can start cost averaging now, but I don't think it makes sense to load up on anything right now.
