I think it's genetic some people are high achievers by brain wiring, some are lazy. Also it could be some childhood trauma that sets some people to try achieve more to prove themselves something, that's easy way to mental issues too. There are lazy ants too in animal kinddom. If you're extremely lazy but extremely smart most dont succeed, few do, bukowski is a good example he was very lazy

It is genes mostly. Evolutionary pressure to realize potential of your genes which leads to higher status and more resources which leads to higher chance of reproduction of said genes. Same reason why Lion is roaring proudly after he defeats challenger. It is pure nature.
But ofcourse biodiversity in humans is great there are also losers and betas, who wouldnt make it in nature but can survive in modern world so we have plenty of them around.

We no longer live like peasants working all day for our next meals, so now most people have the lower rungs if the hierarchy satisfied. This leaves us with too much free time to become dissonant with the more internal & intangible tiers. Really is a sink of swim arrangement nowadays.

It's not the same thing. Reproduction and achieving is not the same while it may sound like it. Ive known many fellas from my childhood who were lazy fucks but they married quite early by today's standards and had plenty of kids
early on. They had very high drive to have family and kids but not that for achieving things outside of that, quite funny. Olympic athletes for
example have been found to have different brain wiring that sets them up to practise more than normal people do, it becomes more effortless for them. That's kinda inborn thing
