Why do people like traveling that they are willing to wage cuck away to do it?

Travelling is a meme for the simple reason that the kick you get from a couple of weeks of visiting a place is no better than watching a movie marathon.

People are the same everywhere you go. Globalization has made sure of this. You will see all your favorite restaurants plus some new places were the food won't be so great. You will be running to catch up and still feel you missed a ton.

Travelling is a religious experience at best. You will long for the crap that you planned to see. In real life though it won't be so great. Those awesome photoshoped pictures that were taken from specific angles to entice you are nowhere to be seen. You are stuck with mediocrity and your now delusional mind that has high expectations.

The greatest thing you will get is boasting to your friends and relatives that now thing you are some kind of Indiana Jones while you sob inside for the money and time wasted.

Travelling is a meme. A trick that appeals only to your vanity and your delusional petty mind. People who defend traveling suffer from post purchase rationalization.

>big cities
Wow the exact same dirty overcrowded cramped hive copy-pasted hundreds of times across the globe! I'm sure that at the end of your life you'll be happy you spent your limited time and money going to sardine-can like complexes to see slightly differing configurations of tall buildings, poor people slums, druggies at clubs, and trash-laden public transportation.

>go on hikes
Pointless walking around for hours, getting nowhere and achieving nothing except staring at some stupid trees and rocks and the "rare three-striped red finch" that looks exactly like a regular fucking finch but it has a tiny red line somewhere on its plumage and thus you have seen an amazing endangered beast and this thousand-dollar excursion is the "experience of a lifetime".

>muh museums, muh ruins
Any historical, architectural, or artistic value can easily be analyzed through a picture, which is all you'll have left anyways in a couple months or years. There's nothing you gain from actually seeing them except pointless, self-masturbatory egoism gained from feeling "cultured" (read : going to stare at some rocks for a couple hours and blowing your hard-earned money to give it to the tour guide, someone much smarter than you)

>muh food
An utter meme, what kind of double-digit moron gets excited over what is ultimately just a rearrangement of grain, meats, vegetables, and spices that will be shit out by you in a couple days anyways. If you willingly spend your money "travelling" to eat "exotic" food you could just drive 40 minutes to get you deserve to lose it.
>muh weather
Is there a more pathetic "argument"? You could be doing literally anything else, yet you go "travelling" to get an effect easily accomplished by turning the thermostat up or down a few notches or getting a humidifier.

>woahhh bro its a few degrees higher ugghhh i love travelling its so exotiiccc!!!

Women only travel to signal status, have low iq short term preference and only value depreciating assets.

I know you guys are too poor to travel & I wish I could help you but don't knock it until you try it. Every city is different. Every middle of nowhere is different. Do you want to be the anons who stay in the hometown you grew up in and never leave your sheltered bubble? Let me tell you, there is more out there. Experience life, stop sheltering yourselves. I like exploring new things and trying new food. Open world games are the poor man's version of this. If I became rich enough to travel all the time I'd completely stop playing them; I could see new things everyday while resting in inns like in my RPGs.

Normalfags are also interesting to speak to and learn more about in small doses. Which means meeting a lot of them without sticking around long enough to grow wise to their shittier traits.

Big cities like Tokyo would be cool but I'm particular interesting in exploring small towns that no one's heard of. I want to go to places I see in comfy pictures and look into them more deeply by going there.

t: Arrogant brainlet who has never experienced anything and thinks Stacys going to hawaii equals travelling. Bitch I've been to ancient temples in Tibet, meditated outside a monestary gazing upon Everest. I've raced across the plains of Africa and stood amongst wild giants. I've travelled through the Australian outback and met several Aboriginal tribes and have had many other great adventures and more will follow. THAT is travelling and THAT will give you insight and a realization that the world is a big, beautiful place and definitely worth exploring before our pitiful existence comes to an end. By that time I'll have seen the world and you'll have experienced virtually nothing. Sure it costs a pretty penny but I can still save up money and build on my future. It's not like you are spending the money on anything thats worth more than experiences. Time is the most valuable asset you have and you can never buy more of it. Exchanging time for experiences is paramount for living a life worth living and you WILL regret not collecting as many as you can when you are lying on your deathbed. I implore you to actually visit and experience special places and you will realize the difference between looking at a picture or video and actually being somewhere is a lot more special than you know. Have you not had a sick kill-streak in a game and felt great? Have you not had any other experience in your life that made you feel good or alive? Would you not agree that seeing a video or picture from that moment instead of experiencing it would be a paltry comparison? The same goes for exploration and any other event that makes us feel alive. Some have it from traveling, some from looking upon great art and others from headshotting five twelve year olds in a row in CS:GO but please step out of your comfort zone and you will find that there are other things out there that you will find amazing that you perhaps did not expect. The experience and memories are invaluable.

Travelling when you haven't even made isn't the best thing to do imo. I'm half Italian, but I live in Northern Europe so some Summers I have been to Italy and it was really nice. Going to the beach in Marina Romea was always nice. The water was warm and the beach was very clean and well mantained with a bar where I always used to get an ice cream. During night time there was this very nice feeling. Everything was really different than back in home. Then the food. The pizzas taste a lot better there. Then you have these bombolones or other pastries that are delicious. Italian ice cream tastes better. Riding in the car while hearing Italian monte carlo radio was peak comfyness.

I would want to go the alps to snowboard next winter if LINK is above $15(I have 20k links). Would want to go to the Bahamas as well. Big city travelling is probably a meme unless ur rich. Idk why you would hate going to nice beaches or snowboarding/skiing in the alps though.

Absolute bullshit just like o.p.
Unless your idea of travel is to go down to the supermarket in the next suburb.
There is something you can learn and things to be observed and digested from people that come from a culture entirely different from your own. Expanding your mental processes by having values qiestioned that your culture has never had you challenge is a growing experience, as is venturing into a foreign country where you must question everything down to your behaviors and mental programming. Avoid tourist trap bullshit and go on an actual adventure and you will learn more about yourself in two weeks than you will in a year otherwise.

When you don't spend your midlife in mom's basement and you actually bust your ass to get ahead, a travel vacation is a reset from the grind. I've never regretted one cent spent traveling and counter to yours and op's claims I would bet my paycheck that you ding out hard on the basic bitch scale.

if you live near some marinas buy a cheap sailboat to learn the ropes and sail all the time in your free time in local easy waters. you can pick up an old catalina 27 or ericson 27 or something like this. don't spend more than 5 grand, it's just a started boat. search craigslist and make some offers, you'd be surprised. i've scooped up cheap 27 foot boats for 1,000-4,000 cash all in working order and sailed them all summer long, sold them for same price after i was done. read about how to check a boat before you buy it, even the shitty ones. thru hulls, standing rigging, sails, motor is sound, learn about those things and you should be good. rope is cheap to replace. preferably go with a newer outboard motor on your 27 foot boat, don't bother with an inboard until you are purchasing something above 10k or above 30 feet.

learn how to dock it in all conditions (probably the hardest and most important part...don't want to look like a dumbass or ding up some google founders yacht) practice practice practice.

sailing lessons are for women and boomers. don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they're just pissed that they wasted all that money, boomers especially will concern troll the fuck outta you, ignore them. go out with someone seasoned if you get the chance but i learned all on my own with videos and books but mainly experience. just go baby step by baby step. if your ancestors learned to sail around the world in shittier boats from trial and error you can learn to sail a modern boat from scratch with books, videos.

after many hours of local sailing in your starter shit box, upgrade to something suitable to do long hauls and extend your reach. just push yourself a little farther each time, harder conditions, further out etc etc eventually you'll be going out in storm like conditions on purpose just to try it out. sailing isin't rocket science but definitely read a lot and get a lot of experience before you go long distances

be presentable to the harbor master and make sure he knows you're in it to learn to sail and not to live aboard because they get bothered all day long by these live aboard people looking for a cheap place to live. if they understand you're into learning to actually sail they will be really helpful, especially the guy at oyster cove. go sail to treasure island and anchor out over night in the little bay there, it's incredible. you will have great wind and very intense conditions in the bay at times, which is good to learn in. you can also find nice calm places, like behind angel island. year round, the bay is the best place to learn to sail. just buy a cheap starter and do baby steps, easier with someone who can show you but never pay for lessons, ever.

All that sounds romantic as hell and I can understand why you would dream this. But you forget the fatal flaw of any plan that involves moving from a point A to another point B: logistics.
As soon as you have to deal with logistics your life will turn into a nightmare. Consider how inconvenient it is when you have to do a bio break in the middle of a raid. You have to walk all the way to the bathroom, and as if that were not enough, once there you have to entangle yourself with a ghastly and embarrassing manoeuvre that is best left indescribabed in greater detail but suffice it to say that it culminates in the very essence of what ligisyyis all about. Then you pretty much have to do all that again, but in reverse. No wonder some take to peeing in a bottle.
Now, imagine aaall that, but x1000. That’s travel. And I’m only talking about going to the store for smokes now, don’t get me started on trying to keep track of your luggage when hopping continents.

for long hauls just be sure you have enough food/supplies because you never know what can happen. make sure you have an auto pilot, radar and other instruments but see... you'll learn about all those autistic details as you practice and get more into sailing. the main thing is to just get out there and learn the basics, you'll accumulate fast from there. you can still go far without all the bells and whistles but the more you have the easier/safer it is. any sailboat above 15k will have all that stuff standard, typically and if you wanna nice comfy journey long haul you'll want to drop some cash on a good set up... that said i've known people who've sailed to hawaii from ca on old 27 footers they paid 3-7k for, so people do it on the cheap too. depends on your budget and your risk level. 27 foot boat is perfect to learn single hand on, and there are many makes and models, all affordable

All of this is true, as such. But you conveniently avoid touching on one little detail: logistics.
Let me begin with sitting, and sometimes sleeping, in airports. Uncomfy af. Then you get on the plane, and things get even worse, unless you fly first class which is marginally better but let’s face it, you’ll be flying business at best. Now comes the really dreadful part. Getting off the plane, recovering your luggage, passport lines, which are logistical marvels, and then the icing on the shit cake: finding a cab. I guess these days that also involves downloading some fucking turkish version of uber and searching youtube for an english guide to the gui hahaha fucking gl with all that, travellers!

it's been awhile something like "complete sailing manuals" or "sailing fundamentals" pretty much anything they use in those expensive lessons. there are so many resources, i would usually just skim through to the specific problem i was trying to solve or issue i was having of various books or resources online. youtube is a treasure chest, i don't even have any specifics because there is so much content on there. i'd usually just search whatever specific aspect i was trying to learn and go with something that had a lot of likes and views. part of the problem is the silly lingo and all the various opinions and methods, makes it seem to overwhelming. i was just getting out there and going for it, running into sketchy situations and figuring it out, supplementing with some skim reading and vids. there are endless forums about ca-hawaii and "cruising" in general. just a simple google search will find you everything you need to know from others who've done it. tons of boomer forums about costal cruising and such

I never understood it until I went to Thailand. I almost exclusively like Asian women, so I was leaking precum from the point the plane touched the ground. I'd never been in a majority Asian country before, so it was interesting to experience the full force of my libido in a place where prostitution is open.

I think this is let when I travel. I go to places where I can do things that I enjoy that I can't really do in my home country (be that drugs, whoring or enjoying nature).

I also don't like my home country very much, so I'm looking for somewhere to move to. I've never understood the passport stamp collecting mindset.

one more thing, this place will be your best go to for accessories in the bay. it's like a thrift store for sailboats. much cheaper than west marine:

Your polite response offers too much dignity to my shitposting but that is a wise take on Daddy Lao, anon. I'll pull way back, then. While there is a certain nobility, humility, and honesty in living a life devoid of desire (and do not get me wrong, once i've "made it" I wholly intend on spending many months-years living an ascetic lifestyle in various environments), that nobility is devoid in the anon who I criticized. The content way of life you speak of is not found in the man who spends hours of his life complaining about 'normies' who travel, the 'wasting' of money which is spent on experiences rather than hoarding it to perpetuate a meaningless, screen filled lifestyle, and being devoid of of any meaningful relationships. I do not see this as a model of a content life.

Money would be an issue so I appreciate your advice on how to thrift and keep costs down and make sailing a hobby far cheaper than I thought it ever could be. Part of the reason I live here is because I always had the goal of taking a boat on the open water, so thank you once more. I only hope that I don't die night sailing outside at high speeds in a storm while enthusiastically vaping marijuana and enjoying the terror, but if I have to die, i'm okay with it being that way.

Wow you guys are losers.

I’ve been skiing in Canada, it’s amazing seeing the Rocky Mountains of interior BC. I met countless amazing people while staying a hostel there, it’s a lot of fun. I’ve been skiing in Japan and that was surreal (rusutsu) I met a guy while night skiing and he took a spill. I helped him search for his glasses for like 2h at night in the snow, then we walked 3k back to our accomodation with beer from the 7/11. Seeing Tokyo blew my mind to how big other cities are. Odaiba is nuts. I got drunk and found an amazing bar in shibuya and ended hanging with a bunch of jap locals who just bought me drinks all night.

There’s no point accumulating money if you’re not gonna do shit with it. When I make cash off my oil tankers I’m gonna take 6 weeks off from work to go to South America and do ayuhusca and coke in Columbia.

I hope one day you guys get out there.

>Why do people like traveling that they are willing to wage cuck away to do it?
>the kick you get from a couple of weeks of visiting a place

You answered your own question.

Some other things that are benefits for me(not a wagecuck to be fair):
- easy to distract myself from my business which is great for having less stress
- Moving a lot(swimming walking etc)
- Planning it and looking forward to it is fun

I notice people that are against it are often poor people. I understand it you dont travel if you barely have money. In that case you can same as well buy a new tv instead.

In my case a holiday to the other side of the world for 10k for 3 weeks with my gf is only 3% of my yearly income. Would be kinda faggy if that would be too much money.
