True, but with the level of unemployment we're going to be seeing, it would be unthinkable for there to be no secondary effects. The banks currently have something like a $4T exposure to credit card debt alone, which explains the efforts to lower limits or cancel cards outright. Just one reason, among many, that the banks are hoarding ungodly cash piles at the moment. And there are other issues:

Consumer loan impairment for online lenders reached 12% at the start of April.

7% of mortgage holders are seeking or have sought home loan relief.

Take a look at the 90 day delinquency rates on the various debt types. Credit card delinquency has been on the rise since Q3'16, and auto loan delinquency has been steadily climbing since Q1'15. That will no doubt be exacerbated by the unemployment issues.

Sell puts on something you want to buy but is currently a bit too expensive. Otherwise (or when assigned), sell calls above or near the possible highpoint. Works much better in normal markets than currently of course, also divvy stocks are a good choice for this because they tend not to grow much, hence have more predictable bottoms and tops.

i can't figure out why i didn't think of investing a bunch of money once i got it from a good job back in 2016. for some reason i just had it sitting in cash (around $50k end of 2016). and i just kept hoarding it until early this year with more being piled on every month. and nobody even told me to invest it, and somehow i didn't get a hint of it from anywhere. and now looking back at it, i've missed literally every opportunity there was, fucking once in a lifetime opportunities. and of course as soon as i did finally invest it, the fucking thing crashes. if i just threw a bit of it into some shitty fucking bitcoins and the rest into s&p, i could have retired by now with over a million. there is not going to be any fucking more opportunities in decades where i could turn $100k into $1 mil in just a few years. i feel like such a fucking retarded failure.
this has ruined my sleep for the last few months and i haven't been more depressed or upset in my life i think. now i'm stuck with a shitty job, and $100k that won't move anywhere for years and by then i'll be too fucking old.

Covered calls are pretty solid. Set the strike price for your target price.
Otherwise, some kind of spread strategy could be what you're looking for, by limiting down-side risk.
Example:
Sell a call for SPY at $330, and buy a call for SPY at $340 to limit losses incurred if it were to go to $400, although unlikely.

QE inflated the equities market in 2008 far more than it prevented deflation in, say, the consumer markets. The whole bemoaned diatribes about "wage stagnation" is very much tied to only a small segment of the population having access to the windfall from equities. Infinite QE is just going to do more of the same. Nothing will be able to beat stocks and I seriously don't know if bonds will be able to recover in decades.
Jobs are only going to be worth taking even more so if you get stock options along with your salary.

You can still liquidate them for pennies on the dollar and remove all but the most profitable routes. The airlines with the most cushioning will take out loans to buy these planes on a fire sale. If nothing else you sit on them and sell them years from now to secondary markets.
I am like 85% sure that, as an example, Boeing is going to quietly retire the 737 Max after completing their current order backlog and selling cancelled or returned planes to the secondary markets.
Boeing will literally wait ~5 years to start making (new) planes again. That their stock price is what it is now is bonkers.

A lot of people are telling me there will be no v recovery, the stocks will tank, millions who are out of work now won't be in work once things open, things can and will break down into mass civil unrest, we will hit a great depression.

Also a lot of people claiming that all the people who claim we will have a v shaped recovery are suffering from normalcy bias.

What will the economy look like for stockholders as well as normal wagies? All I'm investing in right now are physical assets, but idk for sure what's going to go down.

Weimar Republic tier is dumb. But the dollar is retard strong but not infinitely invincible. At some point, there has to be a tapering off of demand for dollars in the developing world that acts as the stopgap to this MMT "experiment". At that point, hyperinflation will become a real possibility and they will be forced to raise interest rates or pop the dollar.

"V-shaped" recovery has always meant the stock market because it was already valuated well above GDP. TINA to stocks other than holding cash, which will lose to inflation. And most non-US markets don't have nearly the capacity for QE that the US has because of their currencies. So it's not just TINA for the US but for most of the financial world.
The economy will not be V-shaped. All the earning calls from everything not tied to the financial sector have been to the effect of "Q1 is bad, Q2 will be much worse, and we expect to recover by late Q4/ 2021". Those are always optimistic projections to shareholders.
So the market will literally be even higher relative to GDP than it was before the crash. There will be so much empty air underneath stock prices it will be unprecedented. Who knows what the effects will be? That would lend itself to a bubble but where the HELL would that liquidity go otherwise?
The gold and bitcoin buyers are hedging that some of that finally dumps into the general economy.

A recession. Interest rates will remain low for the foreseeable future. The markets have a chance of grinding to new lows. There will be high unemployment and it will take years to reach the level of employment we previously saw, which will have ripple effects in and of itself. The effects of the virus on how we work will slow our GDP growth and overall recovery until a successful treatment (note: not vaccine) is found. Some sectors will take quite some time to recover. Many people and businesses will no doubt experience the same hardships as the last recession, but the world will keep turning.

>>18966048
>Where the hell would that liquidity go?
Long term, you're correct. I think that in the short term, cash is still safer until we begin to see the re-opening and recovery take shape. Fear and greed are potent, and if enough people get shaken by the recessionary news and take profits, we'll see more turbulence. I think a V-shaped recovery for the markets is highly optimistic and would be unprecedented given the extent of what we're seeing take shape. Look at how tentative the markets have been the past month. A small breeze sends it up or down.

Consider what happened when the Fed tried to finally fix the balance sheet a decade after 2008 and the market had a stroke. We've now doubled 2008, will we ever balance the sheet? What will happen if we can't reach an equilibrium? Its like we didn't learn anything from 2008 and just doubled down. Except instead of just mortgages, it was every company! They saw no consequences, the age of too big to fail business. Are we finally going to see the end of too big to fail? There are many interesting things ahead of us. It doesnt mean it will be bad, but there will be a great shuffling of money through the economy.

Question about margin trading. The minimum to open an account is $2000. Do i have to have a minimum $2000 balance in cash at all times, or is that just to open an account? If I spend $500 and lose $100 which drops my account to $1900, would that issue a margin call?

You have to play what is in front of you and right now this market is extremely bullish. You can sit there on the sidelines and feel the market price should be lower and your emotions will get you nowhere fast.

Now if the market pushes under and SPY breaks 280 and stays there, I can see a case for bearish sentiment dragging the market down but that is a long way off from where we are right now.

All these bears thinking with their feelings and telling themselves it should be lower have already missed out and will continue to do so.

Who's going to be the person to take that one for the team? Until that can be answered, probably not. There were some lessons learned from 2008, I suppose, that resulted in the fast action of the Fed. But with respect to what you're implying, greed is greed.

>>18966538
Extremely bullish? That seems like overselling it. Based on the last several weeks, it feels skittish. There's not a lot that happens in market hours, and one little news release can send it in either direction. It's been fairly consistent crabbing with most of the movement happening outside of market hours. Good time to take profits from any short term buys from March and re-assess or stay in cash. Nothing wrong with playing it safe until we see more consistent behavior.

They should release more info about it in conjunction with their liver study data but it is genuinely exciting. The most succinct comparison would be lending shovels to gold miners at a premium.

I wouldn’t buy it between $15-20 as it is a ~500m cap but in a few years it will be worth triple the JPM price target of $28.

Do not take the covid vaccine!!!!! I repeat do not take the covid vaccine!!! They are testing for antibodies which aren’t really full antibodies but protein fragments. these protein fragments naturally occur in the body! They are natural! But these killers are telling everyone it signals covid infection. These fragments are found in tigers, snakes, bats, reptiles, cats, dogs, and all over the human body. Newborn babies are testing positive for covid but the mom is not. Now they find semen with covid!??? Think!!!! If you take the vaccine, you will develop severe autoimmune problems. Your immune system will attack all of these parts of the body!!! The worst case scenario will be that the pandemic will be in the vaccine! In my timeline, as the vaccine killed people, the elite were saying it was wave 2 of the pandemic! And mandated vaccines which then killed more people! A few people refused the vaccine. A man named John Connor stood up to them. And that’s when they nuked the sky! I’m currently channeling this message through telepathic reverse transcription high vibrational frequency! Maybe in your timeline you can still stop it!

Has this anon been back since? Im not invested yet but was very curious to jump in a little position. Gains were up almost 20% on thursday and the company halted trading all day today.

I did a little bit of digging and found this just posted. "We’ve made tremendous steps along the way with the establishment of the Legends Trophy; our partnership with ROKiT Phones; our international television deals with ESPN and Eurosport; our highlights content partnerships with 71 networks reaching 610 million homes and now the establishment of the team’s championship attracting major manufacturers." Thats a quote from the ceo.

Esports racing content has also attracted massive audience growth in 2020 – a nearly 1000 percent increase in the first four months. More than 6.8 million hours of live stream content has been watched by fans from across the world, including Torque's The Race All-Star Esports Series, Formula 1's console-based series, and iRacing competitions with NASCAR and IndyCar in the US.

What do you guys think? I may enter a position monday just to see where this goes during the week.

They actually have free pizza Fridays. It’s fucking vile, imagine trying to workout while completely immersed in the smell of greasy Dominos pizza and the sounds of fatties gorging themselves on it 20 feet from the free weights

Without really going through the charts are they showing a bottom? GAME seems to have leveled out the past few days before the big upswing followed by the halt. Im not a long hodler. This is looking like a shorter time frame.

Connecting the dots there seems to be a new link to Frankly Inc as it was halted today. Possible merger?

Microsoft also dumped 10s of millions buying out big name streamers from twitch tv. All of whom have completely lost their viewerbase changing platforms, and have basically cashed out for life.
These executives are completely out of touch with their media and will never succeed. They'll just get taken advantage of by an industry that's notoriously unrepentant in its willingness to take money from ignorant sponsors and funds and never look back.
