I think we'll overall have some bigger corrections this year. Probably even testing the bottom again. Things are opening up so slowly and earnings outside of fintech and FAANG are going to be horrible. I think the market is being optimistic right now.

I work for a great business and we are taking out some extra credit lines and they are looking at us much closer, which tells me that other people are going to have trouble getting loans. still learning margin trading a bit. I was wondering about the minimum requirement of $2000. If i open the margin account with $2000 and use $1000 to buy stock plus another $1000 loaned by the broker equaling $2000, would that cause me to fall below the minimum and issue a margin call since I'll have $1000 left?

Can't fight the Fed. There is momentum from that and stock buybacks. Lots of short term money can still be made now I think. I certainly wouldn't short the market now but once the Fed blows their load and things aren't "back to normal" in the fall and winter, I think the reality is going to start to set in.

Also there are so many mutual fund managers and such looking at 1 month trades, they are riding the Feds tailwind. They'll exit when they see that is slowing.

>When lockdowns ease it's going to pop back as people return to work, and companies have to rehire tons of laid off people because fucking everyone is out buying shit again
75% of businesses fail in their first four years. In normal times.
This will not go back to normal quickly for the economy. Especially in poorer places.

Normal people dont have money because thy got fired, businesses dont have money to rehire or just wanted a lot of people gone outright and used this as an excuse. Its a spiral.

I don't think people are going to be running out to buy shit. You might see a boost right when things open, but overall people are worried now and we depend on that consumer spending.

People will return to hotel jobs slowly and such, but when the PPP loans run out you will see other businesses lay people off. We'll probably cut by 5% here pretty soon. When business is good you can afford to have a little more fat, but covid is forcing everyone to see how to do more with less.

People just believe that. I think we have a few things going on right now:
1) The Fed is printing money, and that money is going into the market
2) The corporate tax cuts are going to stock buybacks, lifting the market also
3) A great majority of the market is run by managed funds that are looking to hold stocks for weeks to months, for short term gains. They need to show their investors profits continually, so they aren't playing any long-term games, they are riding momentums.
4) FOMO of retail investors

Reality might take some time to set in. When I was graduating school in 2008 it wasn't a rapid decline. There were good days just like these have been. It takes some time for the gravity of the situation to come to light. The stock market is not the economy, so we have to wait for earnings and more financial repercussions to hit rather than just people being jobless. When things open up and people aren't spending as much, and businesses start going out that have big debt, and then it gets hard to get loans, that's when shit starts to take its toll on the market.

I would classify BTC as an ultra high risk position. I don't think it will be able to be forgotten because it's established itself as a currency (more or less) globally. It will eventually have an inflation rate lower than other currencies and, assuming the project doesn't fail, it will be sought after, just like treasuries.

Yeah. Stocks are expensive now, regardless of what is going on. It's not a great time to buy for long term holds in most sectors. Wether there is a correction now or in a year or three or even four... there will be a correction at some point and it will be an opportunity to buy great companies at a discount. We can also make money on the way down shorting things, but really the true huge gains are going to be getting into undervalued stocks that get pulled down by people flooding out of index and mutual funds and the total market being depressed. Right now basically everything is overvalued.

Stocks will get more and more expensive. The yield that you get from stocks is still the cheapest of all assets. Therefore, there is literally zero reason to not pile into stocks. When bond yield get cheaper, then we might will see a correction for stock price, but it would be a tiny correction.
