Non weird Hex guy here.
Project aside, you have two very distinct classes of Hex investor now.

1. People who are intellectually curious and capable enough to understand that the project has everything a decentralised project should have, and do not base investment decisions on what the youtube "analyst community" says. I've actually noticed that a lot of 'us' guys come from a programming background, maybe it has given us a slight edge over the normal investor in terms of spotting what's actually decentralised and what isn't. This class is full people building stuff like hex.live, uniswap.hex.vision, hexinfo.io, and a myriad of other tools.

2. Grug brains who have fallen for the get rich quick marketing, and are shilling the F out of the referral system. Richard has been up front about this, he said he wanted Hex to be a finished product with a solid technical base honoring true decentralisation (which it is), but with a covering of scam marketing and talk of gains as this is what appeals to Joe Soap in the streets and has by far onboarded the most amount of people since the 2017 top. Hell, even the 2017 top was caused mostly by people wanting to get rich.

From my observation there are two kinds of people in the HEX community. There are higher the IQ anons like you and me who have an interest in programming, maths and science. We are typically the people who have a greater understanding of the code. People like us are needes for driving innovation forward in the HEX community.

Then there's the people who have around 80 IQ. They think they know what they're talking about because they've fallen victim of Dunning Kruger. The purpose of these people is to driven economic energy forward. Bitconnect actually got attention from Pewdiepie and H3H3. Richard understands this, hence the marketing. Knightly Crypto was a Bitconnect shiller back in 2017 and recently join HEX, although he panic sold. He contributed a whopping 60m HEX in emergency end-stakes to everyone else. We also have Trevon james shilling HEX. Things couldn't be better marketing wise. All marketing after all is good marketing. Why else would BSV be a top 10 crypto?

The people in the middle with 100 IQ are left behind because they are still too dumb to comprehend the audits by Coinfabrik. They will buy in though once their influencer of choice starts shilling it.

It's closer to a bank CD, but bank CDs are in a currency that has stable demand, USD. If your bank made you buy Chuck E. Cheese tokens that they minted before you can buy into a CD, and the exchange rate between USD and arcade tokens is in constant flux, it defeats the point of the exercise. The point of a CD is that it has little risk, but demand for Hex could collapse while you're staked. Not great for anything other than speculation.

yes I think the Trump comparison is a good one. RH has weapons grade persuasion skills like Trump and is a genius marketer like Trump. Everyone laughed at Trump when he ran for president and said he didn't have chance, until he proved them all wrong. Even then, many people can't accept it. Only a few people were able to see Trump's victory coming early on. The anti-HEX hysteria reminds me a lot of Trump Derangement Syndrome, caused by peoples inability to confront their own wrong beliefs.

no, you can only at max get a 20% bonus and that's if you use your own referral link. usually people only get 10% bonuses by clicking other links, and there is a 10% gap in price. 30% price difference is unusual. perhaps a 35% drop in price is wrong, and it'll be closer to 25%. there will be a drop though, guaranteed. screencap this

Guess what? Nothing is stopping from hex being used as a currency also. You can send hex to someone in exchange for goodsor sevices. Integrate it in your website frontend. You can use it in anyway people use Bitcoin but with an added benefit of staking.

Oh guess what again? It's an erc-20 meaning that it is actually programmable money. You can build dapps that utilize hex or plug hex into existing dapps creating unique utility and use cases.

so what? The advantage of being ERC20 is interoperability with all the other Ethereum shit. You can use decentralized finance and exchange on Uniswap for instance. Can't do that with BTC. Have to use custodial exchanges who KYC you out the ass and pray that they give you your money. Can't develop shit on Bitcoin which is why nothing has been built on it. Ethereum has way better throughput than Bitcoin, better code base, more developers, more tech innovations implemented at a faster pace. having your own separate incompatible blockchain is not an advantage.

Clever use of psychology by Richard. By explaining how to identify and counter scams, he distances himself from them. This is a very successful strategy for many observers including those who follow him - "how can he be a scammer when he works so hard to defeat them". Secondly, he correctly states that he gives everything away for free. In many of his previous interviews, he demands "show me a site or an address or email where I can accept anyone's money". This has been true for all of the time I have been following him - until now. Now, he is taking real ETH from people in exchange for a coin that has almost zero value on the exchanges. And the address where he accepts this money is a public store of ETH identified here by his former developer. He will claim that the HEX coins will have value in the future but the distribution system (game theory) built into HEX will prevent true price discovery for a year during which time, that address owned by him will be filled daily with new ETH from hopeful contributors. Although he may continue to give away other valuable things for free, HEX is not among them. If he can use that money to promote the price of HEX anywhere above the effective price set by the initial ETH transforms (currently around $.005 per HEX), then he will be seen as a crypto genius with the hottest new coin. If he does not, or worse does nothing, then all of the good will and reputation he has earned over the last few years will disappear along with all the hope from the ETH "contributors".

First you have to understand, it does nothing. Its not a CD in the normal way. You dont have to stake or can end your stake early with a penalty, which doesnt actually matter if you are ahead in gains. Only 25% are locked, so people just wait on the sidelines to dump at their will. For a CD to be successful (at least in crypto cause high volatility), either you must be obligated to stake or the "end stake early" shouldnt be there. It lives and dies of people fomoing in. Its a ponzi, without the "running out of money" part. Uniswap helps a lot cause liquidity pools never dry up, as richard funnels the eth from AA back into the liquidity pool. by the time the AA runs out, the network effect should be huge enough to sustain future gains. if not, it will collapse at least on the big pay day as everyone and their mum will cash out their 100x , so you better sell it before then.

I don't quite understand why /biz/ can't wrap its mind around this token, because it's so fucking simple.

It's certificate of deposit and financial instrument. You can send it and receive it. Just like bitcoin, except there's an actual product: you can lock up your coins for some period of time (akin to a CD). People who don't lock their coins pay some fee in form of an inflation tax. People who lock up their coins pay less of a fee or even see a bit of an increase, depending on how long they lock up.

That's it.

How much is this worth? Simple: it could be worth as the CD market that it correlates with, and how much people use CD's.

HEX has a few thing going for it:
- The locking mechanism might help prevent panic dumping
- It's in the Ethereum ecosystem so it can automatically be used in all protocols that support ERC20
- It's grabs people's attention, if only because of its extravagant creator ("there is no such thing as bad publicity")
- Asia is still sleeping on it. Imagine if they ever FOMO on it.

RH talks about this stuff in his videos. Certain watches and cars can appreciate in value as they age. Doesn't make them securities. The appreciation isn't tired to the work of any 3rd party, but because the product is designed well and sought after.

there's no expectation of work around Hex. The product is done, it's created. There's no development roadmap. There's no development. It's finished. Like the watch or the car. Any work being done to create tokens (i.e. staking or using the AA) is being performed by the user executing the completed, finished code. There's no work being done by a 3rd party. There's nobody to even have an expectation from.

Do yourself a favor and do 10 minutes of research on what a security is, how Richard avoids it (to an exhausting degree), why crypto's aren't securities, why he built HEX with the aesthetic it has, why he dresses the gaudy way he does, what he says about his past, what is likely to happen to the ETH based on his interests, his past, his thoughts on crypto fundamentals. just to give a sense of possibilities, if HEX were the same market cap as ETH is today, $22B (and I do believe that's possible), and 75% of Hex was staked (out of circulating supply), Hex would be priced at about $0.15.

Better strat would be buy about 500k HEX, stake it at 5000 per month for 9 years. With interest and BPD bonuses you'd be able to collect about 40-50k HEX per month for nine years starting in 2021. > A Ponzi scheme is an investment scam that involves the payment of purported returns to existing investors from funds contributed by new investors. Ponzi scheme organizers often solicit new investors by promising to invest funds in opportunities claimed to generate high returns with little or no risk. In many Ponzi schemes, rather than engaging in any legitimate investment activity, the fraudulent actors focus on attracting new money to make promised payments to earlier investors as well as to divert some of these “invested” funds for personal use.the seC investigates and prosecutes many Ponzi scheme cases each year to prevent new victims from being harmed and to maximize recovery of assets to investors. As with many frauds, Ponzi scheme organizers often use the latest innovation, technology, product or growth industry to entice investors and give their scheme the promise of high returns. Potential investors are often less skeptical of an investment opportunity when assessing something novel, new or “cutting-edge.”

The question in regard to that is "Who is Richard Heart?", because he can (which is the big fear people have) sink the project. Now does he want to do that? Or what does he want to do? What has he been talking about wanting to do for the past 4 years? The people who have been following his livestreams know what he has claimed to want to do?

I think it's a revolutionary and simple crypto that was long overdue. If you don't like it don't invest. But to act like crypto isn't the most volatile of all investments, to act like financial planners recommend you buying LINK or something. There is a lot of hypocrisy here. And there's a lot of irony too because hex is actually the most transparent of all crypto's. There have been so many crypto's that have left so many bagholders. No one knows where the fuck any crypto is going, and anyone that tells you they know isn't worth listening to. But a crypto that rewards long investors and shows you when other people might be leaving the market - I just don't see how people don't think that crypto isn't a speculative investment.
