It's Monday morning. I turn on CNBC three minutes before open as I check futures - they're at -5%. Prior to the opening bell, they announce a special segment called Market Misery.

Cramer and Ackman are sitting together in a dimly lit room six feet apart to socially distance. The talks get heated, and with every sentence each expresses more shaken words of pain and confusion. Ackman finally screams for the Fed to intervene and that this virus marks the next Great Depression. Cramer tries to interrupt him, only to scream louder than Ackman after he recognizes the futility of it all. Even the camera man wails as he realizes his retirement is in jeopardy. Cramer's phone buzzes only to go unheard - another call from Mnuchin.

The camera cuts to the opening bell before breakers are hit five seconds after open.

I tried various custom algorithmic strategies, but ultimately settled on a mixed approach. Specific patterns for entry (a few patterns that I find have much higher likelihood and clear failure point that allow me to set a stop buy with near-guaranteed success if hit, and near never a hit if it's a miss), MAs for trends, ATR for stop/take profit/long-term value entries. I also trade on various horizons at various risk levels in this way. Primary activity is short-term swing, but I also use options to take longer-term positions. For longer-term, I rely on FA to eliminate bad stock but otherwise proceed as for a swing. I also use qualitatives about the business's activities and history to make some decisions. That should be similar to everyone else's high-level strategy.

STNG and NAT too but they're already in the eye of the mainstream.
Personally I especially like TNP, I am confident in FRO, fairly certain about TK, and very hopeful about DHT.
To best understand what's going on, there really isn't enough space or time to explain in these threads (plus all the arguments have been made in various parts over time). Look up their recent announcements, spot prices, occupancy rates, contract expirations, historical events that compare to the current oil surplus, historical price action, etc.

There might be a huge spike upon earnings on may 28, but that just means 'buy calls' not 'buy the stock'. Otherwise you're looking at 6-10 months to see a real massive increase in share price. It's something you time well (or use options), hold a short time, then dump, not a long-term investment but not something you keep for a long time hoping it goes up tomorrow either.

>Why these numbers are different
>Provisional death counts may not match counts from other sources, such as media reports or numbers from county health departments. Our counts often track 1–2 weeks behind other data for a number of reasons: Death certificates take time to be completed. There are many steps involved in completing and submitting a death certificate. Waiting for test results can create additional delays. States report at different rates. Currently, 63% of all U.S. deaths are reported within 10 days of the date of death, but there is significant variation among jurisdictions. It takes extra time to code COVID-19 deaths. While 80% of deaths are electronically processed and coded by NCHS within minutes, most deaths from COVID-19 must be coded manually, which takes an average of 7 days. Other reporting systems use different definitions or methods for counting deaths.

I suspect high earnings which is supported by what is already known and the fact they moved the safe forward two times now. I'll be watching as an investor, never did that before. Last crisis it went to 200 dollars per stock. I think that's a bit much but this oil glut isn't over for a while. I actually want to dump my MRO next week to buy back in cheaper later. There's virtually no movement in forex, you have to rely on the allowed insane margin, but that is its own bag of jew tricks. Stocks are much more accessible, much easier to work with, allow significantly more ranges of strategies (both safer and with much better upside), and so on and so forth.

Just starting to learn about all of this. One thing I've found that seems like a good set of training wheels is the trailing limit stop order. Not saying I'm going to do this, asking this question to learn mostly, but if I set pretty conservative trailing limit sell order after trading on margin, that would be a safer way to avoid margin calls, right?
