Landlord NEET here. I own 4 apartment buildings, 5th is halfway under construction. I help a lot of rentseekers, making sure they live comfortably while saving for a house. My great grandparents happened to live near the city, back when the area was just mostly backwater farming place. They survived countless famines just for me and my family to live comfortably in the modern world.

I would like to become a landlord myself one day, and I have a number of questions to ask if you're willing to answer.

1. About what size city do you own your apartment buildings in?
2. How much does one of these actually cost to build? Like price/unit or price/sqrft etc.
3. Did you go into massive debt for the construction contract to build your first building? How hard is it to borrow enough money to build something like this?
4. How do you deal with deadbeats who don't pay the rent and then stay as long as the government allows them to? How hard is it to physically evict someone?
5. Any books or resources you can recommend?

Landlords are a symptom of the hysterical mismanagement of boomers that have fucked the younger generations. Its not landlords per se - its that boomers could get a house for 1.5x their (high school graduate) job’s salary, and raise a family where the woman didn’t work and get a beach house on that same salary. Now housing is a minimum of 5x salaries, you need a degree for those jobs, and foreigners have been allowed to buy all our houses (why can china buy residential real estate?) and boomers conspire to dent permits for more construction or muh union jobs.

And over all this landlords make tons of money exploiting this situation of permanent renters.
