The Tesla Thesis

Goldman Sachs analyst Mark Delaney resumed coverage of Tesla's stock with a Buy rating and an $864 price target.

"We are positive on Tesla because we believe that the company has a significant product lead in EVs, which is a market where we expect long-term secular growth," Delaney wrote in a note.

Delaney also said that compared to other auto and tech companies, Tesla is attractively valued given its revenue growth.

I dont understand /biz/. We have over 30 million people unemployed and even more people than that have been furlow'd. Nobody is making money right now a majority of businesses arent even open, and most small businesses cant qualify or havent recieved government assistance yet. Big businesses are leveraged up to their eyeballs and are taking federal funny money to stay solvent. Additional forms of relief are being fought against by both political parties in a gridlock. An international food crisis in on the horizon and a domestic processed meat shortage is looking likely. The oil market is fucked and because of the saudi's and the russians bidding war. 60,000 people will have died passing the expected death toll for the U.S. come the end of this week. It is likely that NY, NJ and California some of the largest economies in the U.S. are going to remain shutdown while smaller states with next to no infrastructure and extremely low population density will open fully within the next the week.

So the entire market is waiting for the big Tech Earnings this week, and that will set the sentiment moving forward the next 3 months?

its Q1 earnings, which were only partly affected by COVID, full shutdown went into affect March so Q1 earnings are going to be approx 30% lower across the board

Feels like people are going to act too optimistic and pump the markets, and were heading into the irrational peak optimism stage of the recovery.

What are people's strategy to profit from this?

Trying again

Suppose you write a naked call while owning the underlying (aka a covered call you goddamn autists) and the price goes down, what's wrong with having a stop loss with stop-limit buy, so that the premium covers the loss should the price go back up beyond your buy stop, while enjoying pure profit if the price keeps going down?

>it's risky because it could be exercised!
You never end up in a situation where the price of the underlying is higher than than the strike at any time, in fact you never even ever happen to be in a case where buying the underlying, should you be exercised, can possibly cause you a loss.

Maximum risk: $0
Maximum gain: premium

Sure, but if you're doing risk management that tight your problem is surely on your end and not related to the strategy. I posit that this is the safest strategy, period, if you're willing to give up potential upside (and even then you could roll the position forward to capture more upside so long as you're not assigned, in which case it probably won't be as good as just holding the stock, but it shouldn't be too far off. Maybe with the two premiums received vs one premium paid as you roll it might even give you better benefits than holding the stock actually).

hi anon, nice to see you again. i swung back out of my 401(k) three weeks ago when the indexes spiked to about 2.7k, 8.3k, and 23k. I left 2025 funds alone, but removed almost everything from the 2060 funds. My checks are now going 50% cash, 15% 2025, 30% 2060, and 5% into a stock only fund. I should probably be a bit more conservative, but we'll see. I got a nice 5% of my total balance employing a little over half of my cash. Feels pretty good. Glad i did much better in there than my personal accounts.
