Im the guy behind a lot of the screenshots that get thrown around here but not an insider by any means. I've been decently good at reading the project's direction thus far. Honestly it's going to be hard early on without something like linkpool. At the end of the day the SC team knows where their bread is buttered and the public side of the network is really only needed for extreme reliability price data right now. Long term you're going to be in great shape but they would be fools to let this critical part of the network's progress be dependent on anyone other than professional admins who know how to run high uptime stuff and validate for other chains.

This one I think will be later than you think- remember what we know about staking. The original staking will be only slashing for non return of data or contract execution. This implies allowing non-verified nodes into the network, which will by definition crash the cost per contract execution (which every node will be able to do). I don't see this happening immediately but I could be wrong.

This I really don't know about- looking at how the team has worked through various bugs I'd think they could implement staking and slashing specifically for node nonresponse easily. For various data parameters this could be harder, but that won't be the model at launch. I don't think its a matter of coding work, its a matter of when they want to allow any randomness into their launch.

Staking could potentially be completed but they have thier own timeline for various reasons. One such a reason is ETH 2.0. As they alluded to before why launch something on a network you know will change. It doesn't make sense for them to do it until ETH 2.0 is out and running smoothly.

- Release of many new price feeds needed for corporate contracts
- Announcement of merger
- Pilots moving contract executions onto CL nodes running arbitrum and off the private SC networks
- Slow transition of nearly all contract execution volume and cross chain events triggering/monitoring to CL nodes
- Continued addition and opening of API access and more critical data sources
- Tiered onboarding of non-KYC nodes (you get to just run arbitrum for 6 months and if you have >99.99% uptime and no malicious behavior, the other nodes can allow you to start providing data etc. Maybe staking at this time?
- Slow transition of the network from KYC/validated only to true decentralization. Bear in mind the highest value nodes will still be the oldest ones with the highest value data/API access which will be publicly visible ones with institutional names attached.

If you have a network that requires Link and that saves even 10% of business costs, you CANT EVEN STAY IN BUSINESS unless you're in. The real explosion, my guess, will be in 2020 after early adopter business start seeing real cost savings using the network THEY BUILT. Price is always supply and demand, and when that happens there will be a small amount of supply and a HUGE amount of totally inelastic demand.
Like I said, i do know more about the project than is posted here. I can't post any of it and I'm not going to timestamp anything. You shouldn't take this post as anything other than a reasonable viewpoint. That said, here are realistic price predictions (with 90% CI's based on my own data) so that you can make an informed decision on whether you want to try to get crypto rich fast or just ride the link train to slow riches:
