Thoughts on NFLX (Netflix) as we head towards Friday following crazy earnings report action after hours today? (Missing Q1 earnings $1.57 vs $1.65 set. but blew away estimates with 15.77m net new subscriptions vs forecasted 7m and compared with 8.8m net in Q4 2019)
I had a 10 shares made $382 but lost it all cuz I was at work when shit popped off and couldn't sell when it sold off (hell it even sold off 10 minutes before market close 437-431, stabilizing at 433 too. As of right now I'm down $103.70 ($4,896.30/$5000) and HODLing for damage control or should I cut my losses and give up for a cheap 100 bux? How sick am I?

I wouldn't use this increase in users as a good milestone.

I'm currently reading Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits and he mentions to be wary of environments which may benefit a company. Instead, look for companies that will do well regardless of the environment.

This basically means that even if Netflix wasn't a good company, it would have a surge of new users. Personally, I think Netflix hasn't had significant competition until recently with everyone starting up streaming services. Be wary about investing in them. They don't even have many good movies (t. /tv/ user) and I have to use Amazon more often.

If you want to gamble on rng stocks, then flip a coin. Heads for bull, tails for bear. For a real recommendation then I expect it to keep pumping slowly, not because of the increase in users but because people are looking for safe stocks to throw money at. NFLX has normalfag brand recognition, which unironically has a huge influence of retail investors. NFLX is also virus proof for the most part, which adds to it's safety.

Apparently there was someone who bought 462 contracts of the June $475 calls for $25, betting $1.15 million that the stock is going to jump $500 or more than 14% above the Monday's closing price, by the end of the week. Still a lot of volatility and uncertainty to come

Maybe not immediately, but something like Biden getting corona'd or trump trying to cancel the election this year could set it off

Zoom is ridiculously overvalued. Its PE ratio is over 1500, way higher than any other company that's shilled here. It has only one product, that's fraught with security issues, which is the subject of several pending lawsuits. Many organizations, have already switched to alternatives. Most of the new Zoom users aren't even using the paid service. In other words, Zoom isn't actually growing. It's just enjoying a period of popularity. The bad rap is already having a negative effect on its stock price.

>he doesn't understand what buy the rumor sell the news is

see, the key is, you don't play earnings ever. you play before the earnings and after the earnings. you look for a trend to form in the week or two leading up to earnings, usually looking for a rally to occur and sentiment on stocktwits to be hype ("OH MY GOD EARNINGS GONNA BE SO GOOD GO GO GO YAAAY!" sort of shit being spammed). you use TA and you buy in early. then you sell it when it peaks a day or two before earnings even happens (usually the day before earnings will see a selloff for exactly this reason, people taking profits). maybe if you want to gamble, sell half and hold on to the other half and move your stop loss to break even just in case.

you can also play after earnings, because there is usually a ton of volatility and liquidity then. so here you would either day trade or swing trade, look into what "earnings drift" is. in short: you did the literal 1 thing you shouldn't do, you fucking retard, and deserve to lose money. learn from this experience, hope this helps.
