There really is no parallel for the office of President given the multi-disciplinary aspect of it, at best it could be compared to running an international business that has its own paramilitary corps, in which case a businessman would seem the most qualified. Now Trump isn't exactly Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos, but that's still miles ahead of what I just described: a diversity hire law professor who won a couple of senate seats because he was black and likeable.
