She's unironically correct and only fucking retards want to continue to build the global economy off a finite resource that triggers a market crisis every time demand decreases.

Oil literally should not be used outside specific industrial roles where renewable or alternative fuel sources are not yet up to par. For personal usage and general industrial activity renewables and alternatives such as biofuel are what we should invest in and transition to.

Except its impossible for that to happen. Does this bitch realize that gas powered vehicles is only a tiny fraction of the world's oil usage? Every single piece of plastic, every road, every roof on every house, etc is all made primarily out of oil. Lets take the case of rooftops for example (literally every system from shingles, to modbit granular, TPO, EPDM, PVC, etc). Its all made out of oil based products. Also, these producers have to be able to offer warranties on their products, which requires rigorous product testing. They can't just roll out some hemp-based shingle and warranty it for 15 years without literally years of development and product testing.

From a consumer side, low prices are good.

From an industry side, people are going to have to transition hard in order to stay afloat. You might've seen those articles about oil companies buying BTC mining rigs -- this process will accelerate and diversify the efforts to move away from oil because they can't make money in oil.

The strides solar and wind have made in cost-efficacy is absurd. I agree with AOC, but suspect that it will be market forces leading the effort and not government incentive projects (though they could be a factor, just not the main thrust)

Lol
Libtard morons like you and Cortez will legitimately make this country Venezuela 2.0 by hedging on your feelings and not the factual information at play.

I actually did the math once, considering no loss from transportation (as well as some other approximation, like being on the equator, 300 day of sun etc..), a surface roughly the size of france covered in solar panels (or mirrors I forgot) would produce enough energy for the entire world

If I linked anything to it you'd just bitch about the source and say

or something equally gay. If you really want another perspective look up the Mises institute or some shit.

That tweet she's replying to isn't even accurate.
It's the May futures contract that is at negative values. The sale for the oil producers are already locked and guaranteed in with the settled price at the point of issuance of the futures contract. It's the futures contract TRADERS who don't have the capabilities to store thousands of barrels that have to pay people who are capable to barrelhold their contracts or they have to roll over to the next month at a heavy loss.

Geothermal cooling and heating can put oil drillers back to work. Earth is about 55 degrees Fahrenheit once you get about 10 feet down. This can cool any building during warm temps. It can also pre-warm air for further heating during cold temps since 55 degrees is still warmer than freezing.
Pumped Hydro is efficient energy storage without mining more lithium. There are lots of sites available for this.
Tidal energy is near population centers along the coast and is extremely predictable compared to solar and wind.

All 3 of these have had very limited funding and implementation compared to wind and solar. We can easily get to 50% renewable with these 3 technologies, along with wind and solar.

Pumped hydro storage is also rare earth metal free, but is not car sized.

Imagine being so dumb that you see crashing oil prices as a sign that people want green energy, instead of seeing the prices crashing as a sign that nobody is driving to work anymore and oil producing countries are having a production war with each other. Normally when a politician says something like this it's done out of lies and manipulation, but with this cunt she's probably dumb enough to believe this.
