In my opinion I think that disproving IQ to the IQ IYIs is far less important (seriously, who actually gives a shit about IQ?) than showing the general population that these academics are IYIs. So by giving the public a little show he is accomplishing precisely that. I'm sure that if the government was doing IQ-based eugenics then he would take that debate much more seriously.
