If you buy an option, it's not naked. If so sell an option without having the cash for a put or the stocks for a call, then it's naked. I'm not someone who thinks trading is a waste of time, but you have to view it as either a job or a source of income. Like with anything else you may/may not have the capability, time, and money to do it justice (for a given approach), in which case you should avoid it.

I'm sorry anon. What made you think the market would fall further? I'm not trying to be mean but it seemed obvious to me that it would not, why did you trade like it would? Do you read and consider contrarian opinions? I think your worldview needs an overhaul and you should not trade until it's very different than it is now. Your assumptions about the world are clearly not correct enough to make market predictions so, trading isn't currently your thing. That can change in the future but you'll have to start questioning your personal beliefs, especially those beliefs that led you to buy SPY puts and lose $49k so quickly.
