SSO (DBPG for euroanons) is a 2x leveraged ETF based on the S&P 500 and it is one of the few leveraged ETFs that existed before the Great Financial Crisis of 2008. Had you bought SSO (DBPG) at the literal top of the market before the recession in October 2007, as of this moment, you would have gains of 176%. Had you bought the underlying SPY on the same day you would have gains of 98%. So had you bought the leveraged ETF, even at the worst possible time, you still would have ended up with almost double the gains today.
Remember this the next time somebody throws shade on leveraged ETFs because of volatility decay. Buy the index based leveraged ETFs and win. Simple as that. And start buying now. Coronavirus could be as bad as the GFC and if you start buying in now with a little money and buy in more later as the prices drop you will still come out much better in the long run than buying SPY or worse, doing nothing at all. I'm buying and I'll be here when this thing is over to brag about my gains. Do not be afraid. We will get through this and this is your opportunity. Join me and get rich.

>sheer difference in the rate of change between american and canadian stocks.
USA does have robust and diverse economy. Ultimately, if Canada has craters and investor's question Canada's ability to pay its debts, i think you will see Canada sell off some crown and federal agencies.
>Sauce? They're fucking it up because it's too good for the slaves of this marvelous chinese prison aren't they?
it is too good to be true, as far as the govt sees it. It's more of a long term critical outlook of the TFSA. With the increasing contribution room, compound growth for millenials and zoomers in the next 20yrs. the gov't (in need of revenue) will look at the juicy $'s in Canadians TFSA's.
A new rule they may implement would be, for example. first $5k withdrawn is tax free but anything over has to be included as income.
Currently, TFSA withdrawals do not affect your ability to get gov't benefits(Oas, GIS etc) due to withdrawals not being counted as income.

Personally I think that no matter what, the economy will be choked by the JP Morgan Chase mortgage guidelines. Even in the case of a vshaped recovery, we're going to see the housing market taper off if not fall.

1. Combine this with how JPMC had lost a shitload of their money, along with a large amount of other banks, I'm inclined to think that less people are going to pay their mortgage than ever. Anyone out of a job is completely fucked and boomers won't be able to buy mortgage bonds.

2. For the rest of the market, the extreme volatility will probably knock everyone with a 401k back quite a bit. I'm sure a lot yoinked out their money from fear and didn't buy back in. So they lost a lot of money too. Most small mom and pop style jobs are out of the question since each business has been bleeding out money. They will not get a bailout despite representing probably more jobs than a retail business.

3. The fed is full of fucking kikes, so you know what else they'll do? Negative interest rates. People who own mortgages already will gain money and people who save money in their bank accounts will lose it. So even if you want that 20% down you basically have to pay additional taxes to build it. We need a 401k style savings account for home building.

Conclusion: So the modern consumer will have little to no leverage for buying a house (Imagine owning 100k at 20 years old as a normie). They also will have trouble working in smaller places that generally have higher potential to pay (People tip more at those mom and pop shops than they do at a place like Starbucks). They will have less spending money, they will be over leveraged and in debt and they will have very little money for trivial things.

TLDR FAGGOT: No matter what happens, we're going into a recession. If the market panics and people can't save, they'll be stuck in complete poverty for a very long time. What's this mean? My output is Bvllish.

The issue is that the world has to end, this is delaying the inevitable. Worse, if it truly doesn't end the consequences will destroy this country worse than a crash would.

The death of millions has begun.

Things look like they are dropping now. But it is too late and they already forced me to close a few positions, fuck them all.

They are schmucks if it is serious bull attitude, that is exactly the problem. But with enough schmucks it can turn real if they decide to just forever ignore actual economic theory again and just do whatever they want.

I think it's because Gilead Pharmaceuticals came out with a treatment or something which looks to be pretty effective against the COV. I was watching their stock values for a week or so and was considering buying some but totally forgot about it, fml. It jumped up from $76 to $87 or something like that today.

It's either that or the fact that Starbucks announced it'll be opening stores again so theres a good bit of optimism. That's probably not a great idea but YOLO

sometimes you let some one go, they do kill them self, and sometimes they come back better. Every moment can be a learning experience. Some people don't look far enough out of the box, and some people look too selfishly as if it's not even my problem.... The difference between charity and apathy is really rooted in the mind.... I just don't know within my self, when I would encourage some one to pull the trigger, or when I would try to save the person from jumping off the ledge and going off the deep end.... Fuck.... I have no idea how to judge some ones character and what's going on in their own mind within them selves their own struggles... I'm too busy trying to learn about rocks and crystal formations from millions of years ago, and white papers regarding new laws... and employing people and still mad too... I'm so fucking mad. It's easy enough. You just need the correct sized file and some time. It's a process. Agreed on serrated pocket knives though. I don't see the point unless it's a full serrated blade in a multi-tool or swiss army that also has a regular blade. An inch of serration on a 3" or 4" pocket knife is waste of time.

It's no big deal if you're a small spec buying in with less than 10k. Slippage won't be a problem. However, recommend waiting until 30 minutes after open for buying as the opening salvo can get real stupid. Maybe. If the news about the drug is real, then everything changes. It's already been established as relatively (keep relatively in mind) safe. If it does actually drive death rates among seriously ill patients down to the 10% range (seriously ill patients who go to the ICU have anywhere from a 50-70% mortality rate) and, more importantly, greatly accelerates recovery rates then that changes everything.
No need to flatten a curve when patients go from 4-8 weeks recovery time to a few days, after all, especially since ventilators don't seem to help much anyway (the best study I could find stated that 66% of ventilated patients died.) And it's likely the patients who are dying on the drug are dying of causes unrelated to the drug itself or are having bad reactions.
IF, and that's a big if, but IF it's true, then the lockdowns can stop as early as it takes to manufacture the drug. And, considering the criticalness of it all, we could see lockdowns end worldwide within a month.
But only if it's true.
