Once you have a ticket for a skilled trade its like a money switch you can turn on/off. Go work for 3 months make money to take 4 months off. I can even work during the pandemic.

Now is the best time to learn a trade, during a recession. I picked a steel trade with a strong union and good pension.
Pick a trade that looks interesting to you or similar to a hobby. Electrician would be a good trade for most people here.
Welder, pipefitter, electrician, carpenter (this one is shit), joinery, ironworker, lineman, boilermaker, steamfitter, millwright. Etc. Most trade schools have a trade discovery course where you try out a bunch of trade for a few weeks or open house.
You honestly just need to pick one and stick it out. I have had friends that took a year to pick a trade then just ended up picking one at random and liking it anyway.
