Kek that is not enough. If emergencies cost that much life would be a breeze. $5000 minimum.
At one point in my life. I had to work at a hostel for 4 hours a day so I had a place to sleep. Then work at a restaurant at night. Ate at a soup kitchen 3 days a week. Wasn’t during a pandemic though, good luck.

Anon the best decision would be to claim unemployment, tap into the covid stimulus, and start looking for work.
Are you asking /biz/ what to invest in? Don't invest what you can't afford to lose, and it doesn't sound like you can afford to lose much.

Also, Reese's Puffs or Honey Nut Cheerios are the best choices. But with almond milk instead of cow secretion.

So from 18 to 30 that's 480,000.00USD. That's a 0.002% savings rate for emergency fund. 0.014% if you include everything. It makes even less sense when you mention how much the average adult makes.

I've bought huge loads (more than 5kg) of: rice, spaghetti, white beans, red lentils, sausage in cans, carrots leeks and celeriac (froze them), soup noodles, salt, pepper, paprika garlic and onion powder, olive oil, sunflower oil, vinegar, tomato sauce.

For most of the stuff I paid about half the price because of the amounts.
