Whoever delegated ~9M tokens in one go yesterday wasted an opportunity. If they delegated just enough for a guaranteed victory, the rate of return on investment would've been much higher (>100% instead of 15.84%) and they could've delegated the rest in future competitions.

We're incredibly early. If you look at the amount being delegated for these competitions, it's been around the prize amount (yesterday was an exception), meaning the rate of return is around 100%. In other words, you can double the amount you delegated if you pick the winning node. This is assuming yesterday was an exception; if you have people putting in millions, it's going to dilute the amount.

You can certainly earn staking rewards. I don't know what you mean by 'share our coins', but you can only withdraw your tokens from a node after 14 days. Also, whatever tokens you delegate count towards the current competition only. It won't count towards future competitions, unless you withdraw and deposit again (which comes with a 14-day delay, as mentioned).

Old fag here too, I bought a small-cap POS coin years back (Radon) and staked for an entire year, built up a sizable chunk of it, like 2% of the supply or so. It suddenly got listed on poloniex and I dumped it and made a $2k profit, I thought I was so proud of myself. Had I held onto it for 3-4 more months, i'd made $40-$50 grand, I still cry about it to this day. So yes nigger, there IS shit in life that is free.

Of course our advice isn't 'free'. We want the biz node to move up the ranks, if only because of a sense of pride. Also, getting new buyers will obviously drive up the value of the token. That is also one of the purposes of staking; it's basically an incentive to not sell.

3. what's the deal with contests? will this be a long term thing in addition to staking or is it a short time opportunity?

1. No idea. I have 250k and I'm pretty comfy.
2. It seems to be around 50% annually, or 4% monthly.
3. The contest is running until Apr 22 (though there may be other opportunities). Each day until then, there is a competition to see which node receives the most delegates. The winner receives 2M tokens, where 400k is awarded to the node owner and the other 1.6M is distributed to the delegates based on how much they staked. For example, in the first competition, the winning node had 948150.76 tokens delegated. Since 1.6M is 168% of this, each delegate received 168% of what they had put in. That means if I had put in 100k tokens, I would have received 168k more tokens.

I had 60k like 2 weeks ago but swapped to another token instead of staking, would probably sit on 100k+ now if I paid more attention. I'll DYOR and prob pick up some 50k for now and drop it in the biz node, and increase my stack if the price dips

Since the competition is running until 22.04 and staking period is 14 days(?), assuming I delegate my first stake tomorrow and that I would delegate to the winning node in each case, I could potentially take advantage of the contest twice. Is that correct?
