I went through all this 2nd guessing a week ago

Pic related.

Thought we were going to turn bullish very soon and started buying calls, then panic sold, switched back and forth between buying and panic selling, then took a big bear position and sold it a couple days ago after face ripping pump, then decided nope I was probably right, this is probably the relief rally.

Not sure when to sell.

I'm 96.5% calls, 2% spy puts, 1.5% uvxy puts.

I don't know if holding the spy and uvxy actually protects me much but I'm hoping they pump and let me buy 10-20% more calls if I get fucked by spy dump or iv crush.

DISCLAIMER: TA is largely bullshit, but we're in clown market right now so maybe its okay to use bullshit reasoning to win bullshit money in a bullshit market.

You can see that the bart simpson, when represented with candles, is a sequence of roughly even bars alternating red and green.
TA fags refer to this as a (assuming it pops out green on the other end) "Bull Flag". With candles, we can get a clearer view of just how fast the price is oscilatting around a fixed point. This implies that there are lots of buy/sell orders around this price.
TA fags argue that the sell orders were placed by traders who are not reacting quickly enough to the market. The real price is rising, but the sellers are pushing the price down, holding it steady. Once all the sell orders are canceled or fulfilled, the price will shoot up as nothing is holding it down.
The advantage of looking at it this way is that we get a better idea of how much oscillation is occurring within a fixed time frame. With lines, we only get a single point, not a range.

Are you kidding?

It takes between 2-14 days to start showing symptoms. We're now only one week away from the toilet paper riots where every fat fuck american packed into every grocery store and stood in giant crowds next to each other for an hour to fight to the death over chicken breast and water bottles.

We're not even a week removed from new yorkers fleeing the state into florida to avoid the lockdown. Orlando got 49 flights from new york alone the day AFTER the NY lockdown went into effect.

Once the cases generated by that mass act of stupidity start to show symptoms you're gonna see a huge surge in cases.

We are ROARING towards 150k total cases in america and soon some states will have that many alone.

This is why I'm feeling bullish

The biggest dumps came on days when every fucking big institution and hedge fund needed CASH and was willing to sell ANYTHING to get it

Increasingly the fed made it easier and easier for them to get cash without selling.

And long term it's going to mean heavy asset price inflation.

So people with money are kind of dumb if they're not buying in at least a little.

Plus if we are moving faster than previous crashes, we might actually enter the relief rally faster than previous crashes. It might be even faster than that due to fed support.

I went $140k->$4.3m predicting crash before it happened, $4.3m->$3.2m predicting relief rally early and then getting scared and then joining the bearish spirit here.

But now it looks like I will hopefully go $3.2m-> $4m if today's gains hold and maybe more if this is the relief rally and it continues.

I want to predict what comes after the relief rally (even if we're not in it yet and this is just a big bulltrap) so I can repeat the $140k->$4.3m again. Does anyone know what's coming?

I think there are two obvious outcomes but would love other perspectives:
1. The eventual relief rally turns into gradual upward crawl, essentially a v shaped recovery.
2. The eventual relief rally turns into the long slow dump like we saw in the great depression.
3. The eventual relief rally has a lot of downward fundamentals that WOULD cause a long slow dump like in the great depression, but the fed pumping was way too much and cancels it out so we go sideways.... Or even higher? This differs from case 1. in that stock prices recover but the economy is still fucked. And maybe they fucking skyrocket a year later when there is a vaccine and people get back to work.

Let's stop predicting what happens every day for +/-10-20% and predict weeks in advance for +1,000-2,000% guys.

Reminder that even though coronavirus has the economy shutdown, there's also going to ironically be less crime, less school shootings, less terrorism, etc. It's only up from here unless the death count passes 10k by the end of the month, which seems very unlikely. The lockdowns/shelter in place are really effective right now (even if hospitals are at capacity, they're just shipping them to other states that aren't hotspots yet). I would try to ride the bull wave for at least until next week before deciding to dump for end of April/May, as I think we will go down but not as soon as you all think (unless something really fucked up happens). Also I'm lucky because I initially started responsibily with like 10-20% of my net worth on a very sure bet with a very high payoff, now I'm more like 30-40% of my net worth on less sure bets with much lower payoff potential.

Disagree. On a certain level many things are stochastic, and there are always events that are outside the scope of any predictive model. At best you can develop a probabilistic model that will be right on average.

Don't, get out when you can.

Statistically you are fucked if you wait 10 days.

That’s boring and doesn’t enable people’s degenerate gambling addiction.

as someone who also got lucky and made a lot of money during the crypto bubble and then lost it all almost overnight im telling you to get out now while you still can. don't take 50%, 75% out. take it ALL out. you're an idiot that hit the jackpot and nothing more. acknowledge this and be thankful for what you've made and get out now. put everything in the bank, or better yet, get a safe and keep the money physically with you, or at least a sizable portion of it. keep working your job for the next year or so while you think up a plan on what to do next with your money. maybe the housing bubble will finally pop with the virus around and you can scoop up property for cheap. just take all your money out now. i know you probably won't take it out but i'm telling you you're going to regret it if you don't.

The trap will last exactly long enough to fuck you over.
Don't hold leveraged ETFs long term. Volatility will destroy your gains unless movement is consistent.

if it really is a bull trap and it keeps going up, it will eventually crash. nobody is really buying rn, it's billionaires and feds controlling the market right?

If you've got a set amount of your portfolio dedicated to proper investing, the past week was a good time to DCA in on your long positions.

If you've got fun money, try to hold only during the day so that you can protect yourself. The market is too unpredictable right now. TA can give you some information, but don't think you can predict the market.

I exited my SPXL position that I bought EOD Friday/early Monday and bought SPXU today. The logic is that this relief rally is not based on strong fundamentals. Fear and panic is still strong within the market. Look at the sell-off at the end of the day yesterday. People we not confident in the market enough to hold on to their positions and panic sold to take profits. I wouldn't be surprised to see that behavior again. Keep an eye on news, futures, pre-market, and after-market moves to gauge sentiment. If you're lucky, you can DCA on your long positions and use your fun money to get your gambling fix riding the waves up and down.
