Companies trimming the fat means profits are secured. Trading stocks is about speculation on how companies do, not people. And now that people are laid off AND companies are talking about not paying rent AND they're calling for a bailout, its pretty much a foregone conclusion that they'll profit. They might drop later based on less incoming revenue due to unemployed people not buying consumer goods as much, but thats a problem we'll see in May, not today or tomorrow.

There's always a rally after a massive drop. Eventually the market runs out of people who want to sell, and is full of people on the short side of the equation. Those shorts start closing their positions causing a short squeeze, and that squeeze causes a spike back up, in that spike a lot of buyers flood back in thinking it's the bottom and that causes a momentary rally. Once they run out of steam inevitably the market tanks again.

But make no mistake, earnings are fucked for all of FY2020 and this is going to stay bear for months. I mistimed my puts and am getting wrecked right now but if I had more money I would be loading up on more.
