Yes, yes, it fucking is. I am free.

Let’s backtrack. A few days ago, this person posted a thread on this board asking how to get rid of the ego. He was upset at the fact that he’s always chasing something and finding that what he sometimes spends years chasing is not as good as he thought. This leads to an endless cycle of chasing over and over, with your ego latching onto whatever other accomplishment or want needs to be met.

One of them then linked a book. He said that after reading the book, his ego was freed. This is the book and the free PDF: https://krishnamurti.abundanthope.org/index_htm_files/Brutal-Beginnings-ebook.pdf

I cannot imagine the amount of bliss I feel. I want all of you to experience this. This is not some cheat code. This is reality. The ego really doesn’t exist. “You” don’t exist. Thoughts exist, feelings exist, objects exist, everything else in life exists. Except you.

“You” is just a thought ABOUT an imagined self. The self doesn’t exist in reality. This is similar to how you can imagine a unicorn as a thought but know that the unicorn doesn’t exist in reality.

Today was the first day that I felt a weight drop off my shoulders. The first day I looked at bitcoin chart without being consumed by it. The first day that I thought about the regret in my life of not having done enough in my 25 years on this planet but in a fleeting manner and not letting it consume me.

I am free from the shackles. Now I want you to experience the same. Just look. This isn’t magic. This is reality. Good luck.

Thank you to the biz poster who linked this book in another thread. You are an extremely decent human being

It’s not my ebook and it’s a free book and is not sold anywhere from what I know. Read it. Racism is also an illusion based on different selfs. We’re all the same experientiallly. We all share the same reality. There is reality and that’s it.

You can actually use the pronoun I, but you don’t react when the I is attacked, you feel no association with it since you know it dosn’t exist

Having also read through the posts from the Ruthless Arena, I feel that very valid points can be taken on how that ultimately one's view of oneself and others views of oneself are ultimately meaningless. That ultimately the thoughts and labels assigned to an object to not add to or detract from that object's "object-ness".

However, you are not going to magically experience ego-death and enter into a state of nirvana after reading through that book. It can put things heavily in perspective, but many of the assertions by the posters (since that book is a compilation of forum posts) are essentially nihilistic determinism: i.e. nothing matters, and that ultimately all a sentient organism is, is a biological computer pre-programmed via experiences.

Ultimately, if you need to understand that your unhealthy coping mechanisms, acquired trauma, and acquired neuroses are not indicative of your "you-ness" it can be a fantastic read. However, I personally find their reduction of life to a sort of tabula-rasa self fulfilling program to be an incomplete albeit utilitarian philosophy.

tl;dr it'll help you be less neurotic, but you wont brute force your way to nirvana.

I really hope you are. In my experience, this is a much more convoluted process with many pitfalls. People can feel bliss, a state of "no-self" days and weeks on end, but that doesn't necessarily mean the ego is gone. Most likely it has receeded, it's dormant, but not dissolved. And once life circumstances change, it comes rushing back. Even Buddhist monks, who practice for decades in the most ideal conditions struggle with this. Unless you're a one in a million (or billion) "natural", this realization has to be guarded and refined for a lifetime.

Thanks for the recommendation, anon. This year I've been slwoly realising that true happiness and fulfilment cannot come from anything external to you, it can only come from conscousness and presence. Highly recommend Power vs Force by David R. Hawkins.

Many of us think of love as a strong emotion, a feeling we have for another person. Take a wholly different and life-enriching approach to love. Love is something you "do", something you give freely from the heart. Learn how to express yourself nakedly and honestly to your partner, friends, or family, for no other purpose than to reveal what's present or alive in you. Discover what thousands of people around the world already know: A heart to heart connection strengthened by joyfully giving and receiving from the heart. Is that love you longing to experience?

There is no philosophy attached to it. The compilation of posts simply focus on the reality that there is no self. Yes, the book will not make your brute force to no ego. But the guidelines in the book that can help you look gets you there.

All "you" have to do is look with honesty and you'll see there's nothing there. And you don't even need years of meditation or mushrooms/LSD to do it. It's right on the surface

>Now I want you to experience the same
You're referring to yourself. You're discussing "experiencing" something. Talking about how you feel.
You're not free, you just read a book and found a new way to think about things.
