Just dividens?

Basically a call is purchasing a bunch of shares at a lower price and betting they will go up && puts are to opposite of that.

When you buy a call you can only loose what you bought, so, if you pay 1$ for 100 shares (every option you buy will be in sets of 100) then the gains you can make, theoretically, are infinite as long as it goes up not down. With calls you are better the stock will go up.

Puts; this is why they are dangerous, puts are betting the market will go down, but, if it goes up you can, theoretically, loose infinite money.

You can only sell when your options hit the strike price or higher/lower than sed strike price.

Don't bet on puts unless you know what you are doing man, You can ruin your life. I am new too and I only have dividends. I will make more than enough from the dividends aone.
At least enough to keep generating passive income ontop of my savings and job. Be smart don't be stupid.

I do plan on placing some calls in the future if I Can wrangle up the cash.

A terrorist attack tomorrow isn't priced in. There probably won't be one, but you know, there might. If you were a durka seeking mass casualties it would be a great time to bomb a hospital. The FBI just stopped a Natsoc trying to do the same thing. Or an earthquake, there could always be a massive earthquake in Japan at pretty much any time.

Are you fucking high? We're nowhere near peak. We're at least 1 more week for NY peak, and everywhere else is latent by 1-2 weeks behind them. Even in my bumfucked shithole rural dystopia the hospital director is expecting 1/3 of the population will be infected at peak. That's with a population density of like 1.1/km. This might not even be the bad surge, if you look at 1918, it went bump then bang. Hardly a good model for 2020, but the top guns of the nation are betting on a second and possibly third surge, either of which could be worse than the prior.

I speculate decay won't be exponential, either, it'll have people with compromised immune system bedridden longer than children who won't be as fucked up as adults, who won't be as fucked up as the elderly. And the latency between symptom yield can be as long as 14 days.

None of that is the scary part, it's over-occupied hospitals. Going into triage instead of being able to properly treat people and having to juggle things like heart attacks and strokes between CoV and all of that. Then the logistical issues it'll cause as it permeates through the workforce as we start to recover from the initial phases. And what do we do when everybody has a fat debt bill up their ass while they were unemployed?

Supplies are still disrupted from the initial panic, Q1 reports are going to be distorted and Q2 is going to be short without a doubt.

Companies are going to be getting downgraded left and right out of this. Oil prices, as things are actually traded, are infeasibly low right now. Demand might have hit it's ATH, there's a reasonable chance telecommuting will actually be the big buzz for a while.

can someone unironically tell me if i'm understanding this correctly?
(this is all hypothetical but numbers taken from Robinhood)

I'm looking at buying puts for QQQ.
If the bill doesn't pass and unemployment is bad enough i predict that QQQ would go down and my SQQQ would go up. That's my logic to it going down thus buying a put.

So I could buy a put right now and these are the stats:
Strike Price :$200
Break Even :$178.57
to Break Even:-2.22%
% change :+8.01%
change :+$1.57
Price :$21.43

So if I buy this and it goes down to $160 and i exercise my option to buy that would mean:
I buy 100 shares at $160 ($16,000)
I pay the premium of $21.43 ($2143)
I sell 100 shares at $200 ($20,000)
which leaves me with $1857 profit sitting in my account right?

Do i understand this shit?
and it's just opposite for buying a call correct? just hoping the value goes up and the other person has to buy at the strike price (and i pay them my premium).

yeah? Also for robinhood, as long as it's a net gain would i need to have that $22,143 in my account ready to go at the time of pulling the trigger on the put?

They print credit out of thin air. Credit being cash. The money then is mostly flowed upwards, and so your dollar is devalued and you see little to no return on inflation, whereas businesses get loads of wealth, and the bulk of the inflation. So, intrinsically speaking, more false money is created (money being a tradeable commodity), and the wealth you currently have in dollars, is being fractionalized to those who have more than you.

Now THAT is fucking egregious.
We’re rewarding these people for how well they’ve prepared the country for this crisis?

Uhhhhh we’re giving the house 10 times more than we’re dedicating to getting the homeless off my streets? Also they have to share that with Indians? Wat?

> “The funding is to support the House’s capability to telework, including for the purchase of equipment and improvements to the network,” Evan Hollander told us in an email. “It will also provide for reimbursement costs for the staff of the House Child Care Center and covers the costs of the House food service contracts. In addition, it will support the Sergeant-At-Arms on continuity of operations matters.”

>He added: “Moreover, Member salaries are funded through the Treasury pursuant to the Constitution and are not funded through appropriations.”

I... so they’re using it to set up video conferencing equipment so they can telecommute to work and not get the virus that I hope kills them all?
And pay their staffers daycare bills?

OK, so there’s 435 members of Congress, which means for each of them, that’s about $57,471.
Is that even enough to afford the newest MacBook Pro? Oh and the lighting to make sure they look good, and the T3 connection or whatever it is the universities use these days... and a secure line?

>House Democrats are also trying to slip in $25 million to increase their own pay.

They add in this gem:
>Also, as we said, the $25 million funding for the House is included in the Senate version of the package, according to draft legislation posted March 25 by the Senate Appropriations Committee. The measure — which includes $93 million for the legislative branch collectively, including $10 million for the Republican-controlled Senate — has been agreed to in principle by congressional leaders and the White House.

Well that’s easy, 100 members of the senate... so $100,000 per senator? Sounds appropriate...
or maybe because they also have to set up equipment in the senate chamber itself, $250,000 there, and $75,000 for each senator to get zoom video set up by the geek squad.

I need to read the leaf stimulus bill. I bet there is some questionable stuff in that as well. The leaf liberal party attempted to make an aggressive power grab in the first draft. Think Nancy Pelosi's proposed alternative bill but in leaf version government gets to do aaaaaaaallllllll that shit without parliament or senate approval at all. It was pretty much let us be a dictatorship for two years, no questions, please sign and date here, okay deal? Now, the libs are a minority government (can't do shit without getting many votes from two other parties) and they knew that had zero shot at that going through but they still tried.
