>"average Americans spend $800 monthly on car payments."
I'm sorry, fucking what? Your average person is driving around a brand new car worth $45k? I know I'm on the far other end, driving a truck I got for $2,300 used, but COME ON MAN!
>"at least a quarter of households making $150,000 and above live paycheck to paycheck."
Alright, what dumb little idiot is writing this:
>Kristin Tate is a libertarian writer and an analyst for Young Americans for Liberty. She is an author whose latest book is "How Do I Tax Thee? A Fueld Guide to the Great American Rip-Off."

OPINION PIECE, DISCARDED.

800$ monthly car loans don't surprise me. They are predatory loans that are given to people with low income and poor credit scores which often have incredible interest rates.

https://www.npr.org/2019/12/12/787337997/the-big-business-of-subprime-auto-loans

The subprime car loan bubble is real. It's not people buying 45k cars either. They are buying economy cars but end up doubling the price due to the shit dealerships pull with these loans.

insurance, gas to coomute since we cant afford to live near the cities that pay, and a hefty dose of interest since well, the banks only get money for nothing but coomsoomers have to pay 3-10% or more for it.

Based bourgeoisie pretending the average worker has been living in "good times" while also denying him even the smallest pleasure or luxury to make this miserable existance more bearable. Almost reads like an accelerationist article, it's so tone-deaf it's almost intentionally upsetting.

I get what you're saying, but the link cited for the $800 figure initially talks about general costs but then goes into "average finacing costs", which are apparently $920 monthly. So, you go to the source that source article is highlighting, and it's talking about the cost of owning a brand new car.
Predatory business practices are a problem, but this is just trash journalism. Always scrutinize opinion pieces.

I don't understand people not saving. And it isn't about being poor either. I only make about $2k a month, my rent is $720, around $900 after utilities, then there are food and transportation costs, and I still always have around $1500 in the bank in case something happens, plus my savings account. If you're poor like me, stop buying stupid shit.

He's actually probably not far off. With the social changes that have taken place in America (keeping up appearances, etc.) over the last few decades, many people are spending left and right. It's absolutely insane, and I do believe has caused an artificial price propping of many things, included but not limited to; houses, vehicles, goods/services, and so on. Stocks may be in this as well.

We should consider the numbers first. Americans, from what I've seen, have become increasingly more irrational and illogical over the past few years. So the behavioral analysis points to a possibility and probability to the spending to be congruent with their spending habits as well.
