There was good research from a guy on /biz/ yesterday or the day before.

There is a huge anomaly in the china telecom users. You can see the usual growth is about 1.7 millions more users every month. A trend that lasted for the whole 2019. In Feb 2020 there is a huge drop(-5.6 millions). Now you can speculate on what caused that drop. I don't know about that L-strain or S-strain, but it could very well be a larp. We have pretty good intel that corona virus have indeed emerge from the bats and the bats eating. Many viruses come from china because that have open wet markets(food market) and they eat pretty much every thing they put their hands on because of their massive population. The guy that went on the JRE podcast explained this and said that nature was usually better than us at making viruses. I know there is a BW lab in Wuhan and I'm not discrediting the whole conspiracy yet, but I don't think there is much credibility to it yet and the thread doesn't make much sense to me.

To come back to the telecom stats. Ask yourself, why such a massive drop?
- Do China need to cut internet off their population to avoid information leaks?
- Does the population stop paying to save money during the pandemic, resulting in a cut of service?(Take into consideration that everything is undercontrol in China and has been for a while if we believe what they are telling us)
- Are millions of people straight up dead in China because of the virus?

Probably a combination of many factors.

Biofag here. The L and S strain differ only in two SNPs. That is a difference of two basepairs. For reference a coronavirus has a genome of about 30000 basepairs, but that doesn't mean that the virusses aren't significantly different.
The difference in lethality is probably due to difference in infectiousness. A more infectious virus spreads faster and thus causes more casualties. This difference can be very small, but lead to very large differences due to logarhytmic growth.
To my knowledge it's pretty clear that the strains are not designed. Making the virus less lethal could be done in much safer and natural ways than SNPs, which wouldn't raise any flags about genetic modification.
