Read philosophy and you'll develop a rational mind and get out of this way of life. I'd recommend Soren Kierkegaard specifically for your condition, but you'd do well to educate yourself on a broad overview of philosophy as a general subject before you dive in.

Fast mode: look into mindfulness, stoicism and all that - but that's pleb level shit. If you're too smart, it won't work sufficiently as it does for others.

Alright my little American Psycho sounds like you’re living life on easy mode and you are great at enhancing your own wealth. You need a challenge that causes risk to yourself because you clearly are a severe narcissist (which is fine btw). Take a couple of tabs of acid, or rob a bank, or adopt a loser and try and improve his life while risking your own. You need something bigger to stroke your ego.

don't do them if you're not ready. you absolutely need to have a self-analytical structure in place prior to doing shrooms, otherwise it will just be a profoundly physically uncomfortable experience. the end result will be the same as if you participate in the straw challenge without researching it. *maybe* that would be the kind of growth you personally would need at this point in your life, but you will miss the entire point of shrooms. it would be a waste of the material and people would be justified in calling you an idiot for not doing the prep and you'd probably agree.

op you need to set high goals that you will never achieve in your lifetime, the reward will almost always NEVER as good as you think it will but suffering for it does bring closure and stops the restlessness because you had to suffer to get what you want.

Don't listen to the retards on here telling you to do drugs, I've seen frequent use weed/cocaine/meth kill more ambition in old friends than the holocaust, it makes you dopamine reliant.

Getting rid of ego with your apparent bpd is also not an option but that's shit advice from coping autists anyway because the richest and most successful people throughout history nearly always had a serious ego, that wasn't fragile of course.

I was heavily into western philosophy before I got to eastern. Nietzsche and such are interesting, but ultimately they are lost in ideas and concepts of the mind. Eastern philosophy gets you closer to both truth and happiness. It's not a cope either, it's actually much closer to the truth of existence than idea-based philosophies.

I'm not going to preach, you'll get there or you won't. My own experience in comparing different philosophies and lifestyles has taught me that eastern philosophy leads to true happiness, which is the only thing that matters in the end.

Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for these desires exists. A baby feels hunger; well, there is such a thing as food. A duckling wants to swim; well, there is such a thing as water. Men feel sexual desire; well, there is such a thing as sex. If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world. If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it, that does not prove that the universe is a fraud. Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing. If that is so, I must take care, on the one hand, never to despise, or be unthankful for, these earthly blessings, and on the other, never to mistake them for the something else of which they are only a kind of copy, or echo, or mirage. I must keep alive in myself the desire for my true country, which I shall not find till after death. - CS Lewis

Download a textbook on cognitive behavior therapy and start practicing whichever techniques you enjoy, alternatively go to a psychologist (has to know CBT) for the same reason - to learn the techniques. That's the most important part, in that it's the fastest to learn and put into practice. Then you need to start getting into philosophy, which really just means reading primary texts and getting some university textbook on philosophy. If you can't find them on your own go to a university that has their syllabus open and look through them, this is usually only viable if you speak a second language (any European one other than English), because this is more common in Europe than anywhere else. Alternatively you can use open syllabus and search by field etc. thirdly, this is connected to philosophy, but read up on Buddhism, I am not advocating religion here, but the underlying philosophy, psychology and techniques (mindfulness, anapanasati and vipassana meditation) are useful in your case as well in that your issues are all intellectual (i.e. idea, thought) as in, internal, mental, psychological.

These are the books i use:
>Cognitive Behavior Therapy - Basics and Beyond, 2nd ed. by Beck
>Gathering the Meanings: The Arthavinishchaya Sutra & its Commentary (Outline of Buddhism)
>Anapanasati - Mindfulness of Breathing by Ven. Buddhadasa Bhikkhu (Treatise on Anapanasati meditation)

Again, you will have to immerse yourself in solving the problem and you can only focus on one problem at a time, consciously, you have to put everything else on autopilot to the best of your abilities and put all of your time and conscious effort into solving each individual problem, one at a time. Although books are great, without application they are useless, and without immersing yourself people generally get distracted or when building a habit, they revert to previous habits. I'd recommend going to a psychologist (not just a therapist) who knows CBT.

In terms of philosophy I'd recommend looking through primary texts and start sifting through it all chronologically, from old to new, ancient philosophers were more concerned with ethics - how to live life - than contemporary philosophers of today, not to mention these ancient philosophers actually applied their respective philosophy to themselves, to their lives, while that is completely lost today both within and outside of philosophy. Download anything that stands out to you, I assume ethics will probably be the most relevant in regards to your complaints. Though books won't help with getting out of your head, I'd recommend you look at Mazlow's hierachy of needs etc. and consider if you actually have the essentials of life covered, people tend to focus on the material and lose themselves in that sense in the pursuit of material things, external things, and wonder why they're depressed - usually it's that one or more of their needs aren't met, usually something found within oneself, not an external thing to buy. Regardless of where you start, philosophy solves all problems in the end, but it takes awhile to get there in that you yourself have to philosophize, inspired by what you read.

I spent years reading western philosophy. It is nice mental masturbation but Eastern trumps it both in terms of results and practicality. Western is of the mind maze and eastern transcends the mind problem.

Finally, keep a journal that you right in - split it two parts one being a diary of where you just write whatever you want into it without filtering yourself, do not edit yourself either, and don't worry about being emotional because it'll help you figure out what exactly the core dysfunction is that is causing you to suffer; the second part is an idea journal, only write in this when you have an epiphany, and again don't filter yourself and don't edit yourself, while you read philosophy this will be invaluable to you, but you could also put any epiphany in this part, regardless this will help you in the long run both in philosophizing but also in introspection.

During this journey, don't apply labels to yourself in that you join this or that school of thought or this or that style of thinking or technique, this will constrict you and ultimately end all improvement and box you in.

you can still approach it like a party sometimes if you want. in fact if you try to force self analysis during a trip, that can spoil it and make you lose faith in the process and yourself to some extent by extension. maybe sometimes you just needed to have a good time. maybe sometimes you need a good memory. i still don't entirely advocate for this process or drug use in general, but good memories "to tide one over" so to speak are underrated

>>17996674
what i meant by that is there's still technically value in nearly drowning yourself because you saw someone on tiktok dare you to try to drink out of a toilet paper roll or whatever. there's still technically value in having a bad trip and looking at your friends/some internet community differently afterwards and thinking "you're all a bunch of goddamn idiots. what the fuck was i thinking. i'm never doing that again." sometimes it helps people to a) know that they're prone to not looking out for their best interests and b) be familiar with the circumstances/"feelings" surrounding that. a fool doesn't always have to be a fool if they get good at sensing when they're a fool

again, though, i do not advocate drug use or psychedelic therapy. in the same way, i advocate against immodest caffeine use and strongly advocate for healthy sleep habits. it's even irresponsible to parachute b vitamins thinking it's okay cause you'll pee them out. that shit's an underrated source of anxiety. use numerous cayenne powder capsules if you want intense energy and mental clarity. dyor and gird your loins for that of course, but that at least won't exacerbate underlying bipolar/schiz/anxiety

anyway re-upping this suggestion re: ego-reads

Why do you limit meditation to those who fail in it? Imagine if I considered weight lifting useless, bodyweight training useless because there are people struggling with desire and self-control who are fat and fail at both. Meditation as practiced by amateurs who choose things like TM etc. instead of anapanasati or vipassana are doomed to fail, just as those who skip leg day, but that doesn't remove the value of successful meditation. Don't get me wrong, I agree with what you've said, but don't let those who fail at things be the example itself and thus cause you to miss out on worthwhile endeavors.

I have done many doses of shrooms and LSD, and while it changed my outlook on life in a very valuable way (eg. made me embrace my loner autism personality instead of trying to forcefully fix it - this improved my sociability a lot, among many other various insights) it didn't fix my problems.

My real obstacles were still there and I realized there is no way but through. I'm still working at them years later and have a long way to go.

If you have serious life problems, some pseud introspection and drugs wont fix them. Might help you get the resolve to tackle them though..

You need to suffer. Watch your best friend die, get a serious injury or chronic illness, lose your favorite creative outlet, work your ass off for years in pursuit of a reward that never materializes, fall in love with a girl and get cheated on, anything along those lines. Your current mentality is for spoiled faggots who have never done or felt anything of consequence.

awesome, I hoped some would love it as much as I did
I haven't thought about it since the day I read it maybe 5 or 6 years ago in the summer, but can still feel the effect from the moment things did click for me
I sat there staring at my screen and then felt an immense relieve, then stood up and brought out the trash from under my desk, just for the experience
I can still remember it vividly
I think I didn't even finish the book, as I already got all I needed
it's probably different for everybody, but for me knowing I don't exists is some sort of underlying permanent calmness
what I remembered to make it work for me was to just really experience/life the moment not thinking about what I read and the "you" and all this shit but really just sitting there staring/looking at a screen
hope it works for you out as well, the book did work really great for me since it has this brutal in your face approach that you sometimes can find here as well
I'm off now, so I can't follow up
>>17998454
ah shit, I was just about to respond
what didn't you like about their conclusions? honest question, I have just re-read until page 25 or so and will read the rest tomorrow
for me personally, the conclusion was that my persona doesn't exists, that the past and everything I thought about myself was meaningless (I never had a self esteem problem or something, so just usual comfort zone problems) and that I can do and be whatever I want
in the end it was an overall freeing experience for me
did you really applied what they wrote, or just read and thought about it?
it's nothing you can figure out by thinking about it, you really need to sit there, open your eyes and accept that you don't exists
and just experience life
it will click and then you can't and wan't go back
fuck now I wrote a fucking blogpost, I'm back in 5 min if you have a followup reply
otherwise I'm off to sleep
all the best regardless

First, check your diet and lifestyle, make sure you are treating your brain like the fragile organ it is. Most zoomers and millenials think health is just not being fat.

What you need in life is just two things: adventure and community. Think of everything from those two frames. You need to take risks and strategize to have adventure, you need to socialize and build networks to find community. Community protects your downside, adventure insures upside potential.

Most people get one and settle with it, or sacrifice one for a bit more of the other. You need both for the ecosystem. It's not just some r/k strategy or mice paradise takeaway.

Everything that lasts is an ecosystem. It's true for external environments, just like it's true for the human experience.

Make it 5, and no, you wont lose motivation... Wtf?
Prepare for the trip properly tho and think analitically about the present/your mindset.

Be ready to unpack what you "learned" for weeks after the experience.
