>>People still think cryptocurrencies have a future outside of a niche drug market
There's no question it has a future but all these shill coins are just like the myriad of Facebooks that cropped up after Zuckerberg ripped off myspace.

It won't ever stabilize but financial instruments will get around that. People like anonymity.

Its future is to go straight into the dustbin of history.

I just got here from /pol/, and you guys should know that society is going to collapse in our lifetimes and the new currencies will be gold, bread, and tears.

if you think the economy will crash explain why we won't use bitcoin?

I like gold, but bitcoin is very useful, especially if society collapsed like you say, you could flee the country, they can't find your money

I don't care what people think of cryptos, pic related is my $20 experiment. I left another $340 in BTC to keep trading.

Despite all the cries BTC will be replaced in the future by a crypto that fixes it's flaws. To do that it will need >5 minute confirmation time, 51% proof and not be reliant on miners to handle the network.

if society collapses, the internet will eventually go down as well because the infrastructure underlying it will no longer be built or maintained. No internet = no bitcoin.

Also, airplanes will become prohibitively expensive as fossil fuels start to become scarce. Have fun trying to flee the country on foot.

Okay, I'll bite.
Pump and dump? Inevitable byproduct of any speculative market. Any. Dig a mine, drill a hole, etc. Speculators are just part of us all, looking for a rainbow. It isn't personal.
Outside of a niche drug market? Sovereign Nations create digital capital. Capital stabilizes. This is my personal hope, doesn't mean it will happen though.
Bitcoin stabilize? Likely, but outside my paygrade. Just a stepping stone for me.

Fiat currency is already digital for the most part. Cash and coin make up a relatively small part of the total money supply.

no way, any flaw in bitcoin will be fixed with services, not safe enough? someone will sell a service to help you?

not fast enough? banks will provide a service where there fast coins can be converted to BTC at 1:1 ratio

watch and learn

>NO FEES
>starts advocating the banks will do an instantaneous transfer of money to BTC (and vice versa) with no banking fees charged
>believing you are not a delusional fuck

Also - you can't fix Bitcoins flaws with "services." That is like saying you can buy insurance on your wallet so if you get robbed / buy something you don't want you call Allstate and they cut you a cheque

Also
>paying for privatized services that are mandated by law the banks and creditors would have to give you for free

You Cryptoshills are the worst.

Is bitcoin backed by any much needed services or goods? Or is it all just specualtion and a giant circle jerk born from people reading too much cyberpunk and the game industry indirectly constructing the idea that fantasy money has realworld value?

Like...can I mine some coins and go buy some stuff or trade them in on some online places for stuff?
Cause....I honestly believe that some people need to make bitcoin mining obtuse but doable and offer goods services oft virtual for said bitcoins to make this more then a giant sci-fi circle jerk.

It's barely better then Kool-aid points.
If they can get...a few high profile places to accept bitcoin, like...porn sites, steam, streaming media sites, mobile space/games/apps, those places that put out cheap chinese goods all accepting bitcoins would go a long way to legitimizing it.
Having a real world exchange rate in cash for them would make it feel more real as well.

Hell, I can see the PC industry helping this along so they can help keep the PC relevant.
