The notion that Corona will cause a depression is retarded. This isn't a war, this isn't even a financial crisis. All the infrastructure and all the capabilities (young to middle-aged workers) stay intact. There is literally no reason why the economy wouldn't boom or at least go into slow recovery once a vaccine or proper treatment are available. That will happen much, much faster than people expect. There was no money in curing Ebola, but whoever solves Corona can rake in billions, don't underestimate the combined research power of big pharma and the scientific community.

But there will be a financial crisis. Let me explain:
>nobody buys anything
>your income as a business owner suddenly drops
>you can't pay your rent, insurance, existing debt, and all other fixed costs
>go out of business
>all of a sudden your landlord, insurance company, creditors are all out of money
>financial crisis ensues as REITs, insurers, and banks all go under

The stock market was a bubble, the economy is fine, it doesn't grow as much as it used to but it doesn't shrink. Once Corona blow over we can just pump a new stock bubble. Rince and repeat.

The boomer news headlines literally say”the war on the virus”. Remember “the war in terror”? These are fear inducing headlines with wars against ideas instead of countries. The long term debt bubble was on e brink of collapse fright before all this and now the corporations have the perfect excuse for a bailout. Trump has a prefect excuse to get re-elected. It’s all so obvious it you still can’t see it.

the leveraged credit market is a bubble and this was the pin to pop it. if you dont understand why markets are in enormous credit bubbles youre retarded. each dollar has been leveraged into 25 dollars because the cogs were always turning so it was a safe bet. when coronachan killed the labour force that 1 dollar lost becomes actually 25 dollars lost in credit. enjoy the crash of our lifetime.

You think the quarantines and curfews are just going to continue indefinitely? China gave up after ~3weeks. The mortality rate is 1-3%, that's bad, but it's better than letting society collapse. We'll be back to pretty much business as usual in a month or so. People will die more frequently, but work will continue. The British are not even trying to pretend like they can do anything against the virus until the treatments are ready.

Half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, while most of our corporations are levered up on debt. Two months of greatly reduced economic activity is enough to bring down the whole system. Just look at the airline industry, where business is off 80% and their executives have already come out and said their companies, which have been extremely profitable for twenty consecutive years, will be bankrupt by the end of summer if things don't get back to normal.

Those are just numbers in a computer program somewhere. The economy is made of real things like factories and such. The virus can't infect concrete. You think people will want to stop wearing shoes and the shoe factory will remain empty just because a number somewhere says the shoe company is bankrupt? Just give the company a new name, keep all the workers and managers and continue as usual.

There's so many things that are happening that you're not considering. This isn't exclusive to Corona. This is business existing under the impression that the market only goes up, all of their projections are shattered in the window of what is more or less 3 months. Corporate America and the citizens of America are all living paycheck to paycheck, and they just got laid off. It's going to cause a doubling effect.

Everyone knows their Q1 reports are going to be distorted from global latency, so April reports are just going misinform.
