17872868 No.17872868 [Reply] [Original]

Our Government is about to release a $2.3bn stimulus package, with pensioners and centrelink recipients each receiving a one-off $750 payment meant to help the market.

I was thinking about this today, and am wondering what is going to happen to small/medium business owners, and working people? shouldn't these people be a priority as their taxes (which are a disgusting amount here) are going to pay for this?
I think rather than $750 for dole recipients (that includes me at the moment) that workers and business owners should receive most if not all their tax back this year in full, and the grants for dole recipients should be halved.

Why is this not being done?

because we're not told about that or how much is costs. The point I'm making is that if the government wants to see that money spent, it would get spent just the same if the people pay taxes got it back rather than people who already receive social security get a nice fat bonus

no because people on welfare often have a lot of things owing due to how little they have to live on. (rent, car, food, new clothes, electronics etc.)

people who work are more likely to have more than enough money to survive day to day and thus are more likely to save that money.

Also it's that sneering liberal party attitude of: "Oh those dirty lazy unemployed people on welfare, they have no self discipline or impulse control, if we throw them a few crumbs they'll gorge themselves like rats on a piece of cheese."

It's essentially the top 1% throwing some breadcrumbs to the bottom 1% to get the cogs moving for the top 1% again.

I guarantee you know most people I know who are going to get that payment WON'T be saving it, mostly because they've got things they need to pay out that they haven't had the money before.

when you live on 150$ to 300$ a week you need all the breaks to cover the cost of living you can get.

Small businesses can get the same payment and more to keep employees. There is a lot offered for small business.

This Jewish money-printing "stimulus" bullshit is evil, but Australia does a way less repulsive job of it than most.

Isn't this not only terrible, but so unfounded. Some, definitely not all, of the wealthiest in this country make most of their money off NUMEROUS complex schemes to essentially launder money from ratepayers to put in their pockets.

exactly, they want to bitch about dazza from mount druit living on his 150$ a week while they make 300k a year, funnel billions of dollars into big business, then retire into comfy positions in the private sector.

A politician can literally rent out an 800$ dollar a week apartment in canberra and claim it back on tax as they may be expected to stay in canberra for parliament for an extensive period at time for some part of the year.

There are literally people in that line of work that think the academic difference between rich and poor students is that richer students have superior genes and not the socioeconomic situations they find themselves in that are a factor for their success.

The bushfires were a good example of this, people pay tax for emergency services, then when the bushfires happened everyone did a song and dance about raising money for the rfs like it was a fucking charity and not an emergency service that should have been adequately funded in the first place.

That's all well and good, if there's work there to be had. In Aus, the land that shipped a lot of its job market overseas, it's usually not an option.
Australia has been making its globalised bed the last few decades, now it's about to lay in it
