Alright goldbugs. FINE. You win.

Where do you guys buy your gold from? I've never bought precious metals before and don't want to fall for some dumb shit. I'm guessing there are a lot of traps out there for boomers to fall into, like buying fake gold or gold that isn't pure or something.

when the collapse is final aka no more global economy and rebuild will take a life time or more then gold will be useless too.

well when I say collapse I mean of the national economy, like runaway Zimbabwe-tier hyperinflation or something. Gold would still have value in other countries and other economies, so you would at least still have SOMETHING instead of a bunch of worthless paper money.

Yes if there were a total collapse of the entire global economy and we have Mad Max all over the globe then gold would be useless. And I guess you can maybe argue if hyperinflation happened in the US then it would mean catastrophe for the globe, I don't know.

>I'm guessing there are a lot of traps out there for boomers to fall into, like buying fake gold or gold that isn't pure or something.
APMEX is a good place to get stuff without any bullshit. Prices/premiums are super high.

For buying precious metals in physical form, there's two ways to go for the dumbshit who doesn't know anything:

1. Buy at the lowest premium (price over spot) as possible. If you're looking at silver, "Junk Silver" (90% US coins made before 1965) is always available, comes at a low spot, is not going to be counterfeited and is very liquid (as it's literally US currency).
2. Buy government coins like American (silver/gold) eagles, Canadian (silver/gold) leafs, Brittanias and so on. You'll pay a MUCH higher premium but because these are also government backed you'll make much of the premium back (silver eagles can be sold for above spot, for instance). These will be very liquid as well as everyone knows them.

Stay away from bullshit rounds made by no-name mints. A silver round that says "God, Guns, and Girls" might amuse you but you'll never make back the huge premium you paid for it.
Stay away from numismatic coins (any coin that is graded) coin because you don't know what you're doing.

Buy from a big online store. APMEX is great and no bullshit but can have higher prices, but they're still my goto.

Don't buy anything from someone you don't know or meet online. You'll get ripped off.

Depends on what you're trying to sell. If you walk in with a 1000oz silver bar meant for industrial use it's gonna be hard to move because not many shops can test something that big to make sure it's not 100oz of silver wrapped around 900oz of tungsten or something.

>>17788517
Gold is different. 100ozt of gold is the size of a paperback book. It's a lot easier to test and is worth doing so as that's about $160,000 worth of gold there.
