17764702 No.17764702 [Reply] [Original]

As of writing this thread, the cryptocurrency market is down 35.66%. A bloodbath for serious investors.

We're very aware we have a large impact on the price of Bitcoin (less so in these times). I do have some insight into how the currency will evolve over 2020.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'll take a picture in the office tomorrow with a PGP signed message on it.

Ask away.

>Word around town is that whales had convened on Telegram and concluded that Bitcoin wouldn't survive the one-two punch of the stock market crash and the halvening and its hash rate drop. And I mean literally not survive, and it would drop to the point of threatening the entire crypto economy and force large exchanges into insolvency. At that point it's every man for himself which explains the cascade of selling. Everyone is trying to get out of crypto and into cash.

Very. Coinbase has an insurance fund that will cover any losses. We also uncovered several novel 0-days earlier this year that worked on Firefox. It was really quite complex, and completely escaped the sandbox.

Our cold wallets are stored on archival tape, and the architecture for the hot wallets I cannot go into, but the entire system is highly modular, and is really quite neat. Specifically, right now, I'm working on chain integration for a yet-to-be-revealed currency.

A sophisticated attack was launched against us, profiling employees, seeing what type of access they had. They took over an ivy-league e-mail server and used that to spoof legitimate looking e-mail. They mailed several of our engineers, executives, and so on. They sent legitimate websites, to check their user agents and gather data. When they found out who had access to what, and what browser they were using. They sent the final payload (that included 2 novel 0-days) to those candidates. However, our systems are setup with a "whitelist", meaning any program that spawns a shell it isn't supposed to, is automatically terminated and our risk analysis department is alerted. That's when we started looking into the Javascript embedded on this page. It allowed the attacker to execute pure ASM instructions on the machine.

The attack started as a profiling campaign. Finding out which targets were considered "high-value", that would finally qualify to be sent a link to the site that contained the exploit.

If you were a "candidate", and got targeted and were using Chromium, Brave, etc. you'd get a page saying "This site is not compatible with [browser], please try to open it in Firefox."

They even encouraged several employees to update Firefox - since the exploit worked on the newest build.

If a site has any "terrorist links", we could be severely punished for facilitating such a transaction. Daily Stormer (as far as I understand), is a neo-Nazi newspaper, which could be seen as propaganda for future shooters.

I got into this line of work because the idea of a free market appealed to me, where no banks, credit card processors or acquirers could interfere with the flow of money - however that's not the reality we live in unfortunately.

If I had any say in these decisions I would make some serious changes.

This thread is a larp.

There are anons on biz alone that have $500,000+ on Coinbase and you wouldn't be able to cover that. Primarily, because you don't work for Coinbase and also because Coinbase only insures half of that amount.

Oh boy! This is an exciting subject to talk about.

We call them "modules" (it's all built in modular components), and they each serve their own function.

So - for example.

Our system for tracking transactions, confirmations, etc. (anything blockchain related), is in one module for the Bitcoin forks. They have a shared interface that has broad definitions of methods all JSON-RPC calls that (for example the bitcoin daemon) implements with expandability for specialized functions in the forks.

I'll explain more on my upcoming blog, or on Twitter. I can't go too much into detail without breaking an NDA, but the stuff I've said above is basic good software design practice.

Follow: @BreakThisPlease if you want updates on when I get around to setting up the blog. I'll be quite busy tomorrow.

This I do not know. We have teams that specialize in tracking the market, and making large movements of funds.

It could be the case, but I can't even give a qualified answer on this, to reiterate: I am just a code-monkey. I do have access to what we call "privileged information", meaning I know what coins are going to be added (see proof from my screenshot where I accurately predicted the next currencies added, posted earlier in this thread).

Our KYC/AML is *VERY* strict. It's partly due to U.K. regulation, and partly due to LHV (the bank we use). It's not easy operating a cryptocurrency business.

I've had a few people DM me about their projects, and honestly I can't give out much intel about Coinbase as it pertains to your project, but I can give you good advice on what spaces of crypto to avoid. I am quite aware of what will be redundant in a few years.

Calm, bro. This isn't reddit where people mostly try to be civil, 4Chan is just posing as toxic. Calling others "nigger", larps and fakes is just normal over here.

Best focus on the real questions and ignore the haters.

I understand.

Ultimately, I'm just doing this so that the "insiders" on the periphery of development who have inside information on new coin additions won't commit insider trading. I think it's an unfair practice.

Granted, /biz/ is -relatively- obscure, so it's probably not the best place to publish this. But I've found it's the best place for this sort of discussion, in interest of concealing my own identity.
