As much of a madman as he is, he's right. Corona-chan is literally just a reskinned flu that's killing more old people because we don't have a vaccine for it like we do for the flu. But for everyone who's not a literal boomer, you just get the sniffles and maybe a fever at most unless you already have lung disease or a compromised immune system.

Saudi Arabia and Russia are just using the panic as an opportunity to kill the petroldollar, something they've wanted to do for a very long time but haven't really found a safe opportunity to capitalize on. With China down and out for an entire month, they can easily use the excuse of "we had to fuck the market to make profit because China was one of our largest customers."

It's not as convoluted as he makes it out to be, but anyone who understands the history of oil within the economy and has the capability to read and process statistics from raw datapoints knows that everything is being blown the fuck out of proportion to take economic control away from the US. Unfortunately, Trump is a moron who isn't helping because he's trying his best to hide information in an attempt to maintain control. But it's failing terribly because he's unintentionally really transparent about blatantly lying, which just makes more people distrust him and lean in onto the panic.

Thanks for reading my tedtalk, here's something cute but also a little funny.

Low sample size. Heart disease and diabetes usually correlates to other underlying health issues and an overall weakened body in general due to years of disabled functioning.

Here's the deal - Covid19 isn't "just starting" to spread in the US. It's already here. It's been here for over a month. Chinese new year was in January, incubation period is 2 weeks. Chinks already flew to China, coughed all over each other's bat soups, and flew back to the US to cough on the Chinese takeout and laundry machines that their customers use. It's already widespread in the US, just listen to literally any official conference on the disease and you'll hear people on stage and in the crowd coughing every fucking minute.

But we aren't testing them. Unless you're seriously ill (which most people aren't) you aren't going to get tested. So the virus is running around unchecked and under-reported, and it has been for over a month now. If burgers were more susceptible to it, we'd have already seen that to be the case by now. But as more time goes by it looks more and more like we're having the same numbers as the rest of the world.

Keep in mind that we had a spike of deaths recently due to a NURSING HOME getting hit by it (RIP niggas). Also keep in mind that Washington state has higher confirmed cases not because it's running rampant there, but because they're one of the only states that are testing for Corona without the CDC's permission due to a research lab's loophole allowing them to give CDC the finger and test without approval. Most other states don't have that luxury, and the CDC is firmly enforcing the policy that nobody is to be tested unless they're pretty much knocking on heaven's door.

As I typed this post out, I've heard coughing from every corner of my fucking office from co-workers. I have a strong immune system so give zero shits, but I'm positive corona is in my office. I'm not panicking though, because it's just a fucking flu.

>The rest of the world's numbers peg it as being like 50x more deadly than the flu.

Not really. Like I said, we're dealing with two factors that skew the numbers a bit to make them seem more scary:

1. The virus isn't being tested in individuals who present mild symptoms in most countries. Resources are limited and you're not a priority if you're just coughing and have a slight fever.

2. We have literally years of flu statistics against just months of Covid19 statistics. The sample sizes are vastly different, but we do know for a fact that it's a lot easier to tell when someone dies (so they join the statistics) than when someone just eats some chicken soup at home for a week and comes out okay without ever getting tested (thus not joining the statistics)

3. There's no vaccine created for Covid19. The point of vaccinations is to keep the mortality rate capped at a low number. Without widespread vaccination of the flu virus, it'd be just as deadly to boomers. But every boomer's doctor will force them pretty much at gunpoint to take the vaccine, so they're pretty much covered.

I understand why you're scared, my friend. But when you look at everything from a wider scope you see that the logical conclusion to make is that based on the current data - we're not dealing with some worldending black plague shit. Just a flu, without a vaccine, that's too new to have a full picture of at the moment.

Trump realizes full well that if this market crashes, he's going to lose the election this November. Being that he wants a second term, you can bet your ass he's going to pull every lever available to keep the stock market from plummetting.

Looking carefully at the market and buying stocks at a discount. Even if you lose money in the short term from catching knives, the markets WILL eventually stabilize and you'll make a profit in the long term.

Don't play with money you can't afford to lose, but at the same time don't be afraid to take some risks. Stock markets aren't crypto, you aren't going to see major companies like Apple completely bottom out at 0 and never rebound again. The world needs to consume, and it will even if it has to take a nap for a year or two.

If the housing market tanks, cheap houses are indeed a good investment. Yes, there were cheap houses in the EU after the 08 crash, and people who gobbled them up and sold them a few years later made a pretty penny.

Crypto genuinely is a good point of risk right now, but it's VERY hard to time the market and even harder to decide which shitcoin will actually profit from this whole thing. Only do this if you're lookin to high risk high reward the system right now. If you're young - chances are any losses you make right now will seem devastating but eventually be a drop in the ocean 20-30 years from now when you look back at yourself.

So budget yourself for safety/stability (precious metals), long term slow profit (stocks/bonds/treasuries/housing), and high risk gambles (crypto/individual stock picking). Everyone's finances are different, so it's difficult to create a "catch all" plan. Take care of yourself, friend.

For reference - I an a market analyst. I do this stuff for a living; my entire profession is looking at large data sets and translating, researching the primary movers of those numbers, figuring out where and why discrepancies between similar data exists, and translating my findings into layman explanations for my fatcat bosses to execute plans on. I've been very successful at my job thus far, so I'm pretty confident in my analysis of the current state of affairs.

You realize a depression can last decades, right? You will need that money. But you want to potentially cut it in half or more catching a falling knife because you think “eventually” it’ll be at that price again. That happens until it doesn’t, the stock market has only existed for 100 years and it has already ruined the economy once and put a huge dent in the economy a second time, this will be the third catastrophe and probably the biggest.

Yeah - the are going to be pissed; until the story is spun as "we contained the virus with extreme measures, thus prevented its devastation."

Then the media will just find another target to prop up on the pedestal and make you forget about it. Remember how mad people were about Epstein? Just because the masses were angry doesn't mean anything was done...just wait it out until the next marketable outrage and move on.

Current internet landscape is dominated by fear and controversy. Until people wake up to realize that there's always a new outrage every month that makes them forget about the previous one, it'll just keep going.

>>17666655
This is why you diversify and why I specifically suggested not putting your eggs in one basket but rather to budget your savings according to how much risk you're planning to take. Historically, even when we have huge market shakeups, we've rebounded. I'm willing to place some bets on historical situations similar to this; if you're young then it's much more likely that the markets will recover within your lifetime.

If markets crash and burn long enough to not - then "making money" is a moot endeavor considering we'd probably have destroyed the fiat system after such a long run of instability. By that point, I'd hope you've stockpiled gold to replace the monopoly money you were holding. You'd already be ahead of the game compared to most other people, and have a head start at launching your financial success in whatever form the new economy takes on.

Making money wasn’t moot during the Great Depression, it’s just most people were living paycheck to paycheck and investing was a fantasy idea. If you have the luxury to invest now, chances are you will not in an extreme crisis, and will wind up needing to dissolve all of your holdings... which then begs the question. Do you do it now and preemptively strike but in the face of catastrophe be way better off, or do you try to wait it out and hope there’s a swift rebound and you never meet the moment that you can no longer put food on the table? There is risk involved in both scenarios and currently the risk of leaving money in the market is a lot higher than it has been in the last 90 years or so.

>In late 2017, China announced that it considered moving to price oil in the yuan. Because it is the world's biggest importer of oil, China saw it as a logical shift to price the world's most important commodity.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/petrodollars.asp
>The United States uses the power of petrodollars to enforce its foreign policy. But many countries don’t fight back. They are afraid it would mean the collapse of the petrodollar.

>For example, the United States sanctioned Iran for refusing to halt its development of potential nuclear weapons. Similarly, it hit Russia with trade embargoes for invading Crimea and creating a crisis in Ukraine. As a result, these countries signed a five-year trade deal with each other that is worth $20 billion. Critically, it is not priced in dollars, and it includes the sale of Iran's oil.

The US is most likely being priced out, in same way, by Russia and China. Other word powers have essentially been trying to break the petroldollar for a while now, and they almost certainly have been in contact with the Saudis for proposed deals. Creating an oil conflict and then resolving with "Russia and China now control oil prices, Russia will give us protection" is a pretty good exchange if you've lost confidence in the US economy and want to jump ship.

There are a variety of other possibilities, but it'd be foolish of me to claim I know for sure WHY they'd do it. I just know that oil has been a hot conflict zone between super powers for the entirety of the 2000's thus far, and we've kinda been overdue for some massive tipping point like that. It may even end with Saudia Arabia not taking Russia/China's proposal and switching back, taking the "monkey hanging from a branch" approach to the situation. Can swing to a new branch, or stay on what they've got, but they don't have to commit to either action just yet until they have more info on what's best.

The thing is that the regime would be toppled by the CIA/Mossad in Saudi Arabia if they ever try to pull it off.
The other aspect is that SA is in a duel with Iran (which is much stronger in every aspect but oil reserves) for the regional/islamic hegemony and without american guns they can't enforce shit anymore.

Empires take time to fall, the US are arguably in decline but nowhere near enough for client states to turncoat yet.
The real geopolitical danger for americans is Russia and Western Europe converging as an Eurasian axis and drifting away from atlanticism.

This isn't a poor assessment, it depends on where your personal stakes lie. If you want to pull out of the market, the best way would be in physical assets - precious metals like gold/silver/platinum, etc. If you're really worried about the markets crashing, burning, and never recovering, then that's a safer bet than pulling out and bagholding monopoly money that will be worthless post crash.

So that falls into my suggestion. Everyone's situation is different, and everyone will have different outlooks on the future. None of us know for certain, if we did then getting rich would be pathetically easy. We can only take educated guesses based on historical data contextualized to modern scenarios.

So if your assumption is that everything will crash and burn, you're not really looking to "make" money, you're looking to store the value of your current holdings somewhere that it will be safe post-crash. So put more into gold, less into stocks/housing/crypto. But it'd be foolish to entirely dismiss the possibility of the markets recovering and dumping all funds exclusively into physical assets. Always diversify and you'll end up on top. Being greedy and putting it all into one sector is just asking for a disaster if you made the wrong call. But spreading your wealth across multiple sectors ensures that even if everything goes to shit, you have something to hold onto and put you ahead of those who didn't.

tl;dr - you're not wrong, friendo. Just have a set perception on where you think things would head, so your investment porfolio will be biased towards that scenario compared to mine. Your analysis is valid, but neither of us know for certain how this will turn out so just plan according to how risky you want to play the game. Making money isn't easy, but inaction in the face of opportunity is a surefire way to miss out.

Actually, final word of advice:

For every position you hold, there are very smart rivals with a lot of capital that hold the opposing position. This stuff isn't in a vacuum, you're playing a game against real people, some of which are very smart and have the resources to skew the win into their favor. Even if you're right on the money, someone somewhere won't go down without a fight and will try tooth and nail to move the economy in their favor.

They may not be successful, but in the event that they are you've lost if you only play the game under a single win condition. So create multiple paths for success, so you can pivot into whatever ends up on top.

You seem like a very smart anon, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Keep yourself safe, keep vigilant, and prepare for the upcoming roller coaster. You're going to make it, anon.

Correct, that's why I don't think they've made their decision yet. Taking the monkey branch approach means they can muddy the waters a bit and see how everyone reacts, then go with what they think is the best choice. They can always apologize and revisit the table with America as this blows over. They aren't just fucking with the oil out of the blue - they have the perfect scapegoat in the form of Covid19. An opportunity like this doesn't come often, so capitalizing on it is a smart move. If they still want to keep the petrodollar status quo, they can fall back on "we really needed to make up for the blow we took from China's absence in the market" and get a slap on the wrist. But right now, they've laid their cards on the table and are watching to see what Russia, China, and America's next move is before proceeding forward.

I could be wrong though. That's just my thoughts on it. The fact is, Saudi Arabia definitely pulled some shady shit - and we don't fully know the reason behind it. If they were happy with the status quo, they could have waited it out. But they made a risky move in a time where the repercussions can be shielded by plausible deniability, in a sense. I think there's something to that.

Goddamn you're fucking retarded. Do you think northern Italy is just quarantining itself for a fucking case of the sniffles? Do you think the Chinese quarantined 700 million and welded people indoors for a mere flu? Get your head out of your ass schizo. I voted Trump in 2016, and continued to support him until this shit. The retarded thing is, he actually had a great opportunity to showcase his abilities as a leader, and to tackle this thing head on. Instead he's piling it under a rug and pretending it doesn't exist.

BTW, corona infected patients with comorbidities like diabetes and CVD are gonna fare far worse. Guess what percent of the US that is? Just fucking lol kiddo.

>Do you think northern Italy is just quarantining itself for a fucking case of the sniffles?

Italy is known for its culture of close contact. Long hugs and kisses for greetings with strangers gives the virus a perfect pathway into infecting the population. With the lack of a vaccine, the best way to contain the virus in culture like this is to enforce quarantine. You can't trust people to stop kissing and hugging just because you wanted against it, nor can you trust them to not travel with the assumption that they're healthy and risk putting Italy in a bad spotlight on the world stage for not putting an effort in.

>Do you think the Chinese quarantined 700 million and welded people indoors for a mere flu?

China enforcing police state isn't really surprising. Take note that China, as ground zero, was working on less information and prep than everyone else. At the start of the epidemic, they really had no clue just how serious it may develop. Confirmed deaths were way higher than recovery (duh - it takes hours to die from something but at least a week to recover) and they had already been slammed before for their poor reaction to previous diseases like Bird Flu.

You're talking about a country that gives zero shits about "disappearing" you for calling their leader Winnie The Pooh, do you think the forces in power are going to take a lax approach to protecting themselves at any and all costs? Now we have more information on the virus, but information was fare scarce back then and could have potentially gone either way at that early point.

So now that we have more information, let's take a look at the data. 80,740 sounds like a large number on paper, but China has a population of 1,386,000,000.

So we're looking at 0.006% of the total population of China confirmed infected from a virus that's been spreading since around November. Out of that number, 72.75% have recovered. Most unrecoverd cases are in stable condition.

>But China is faking their numbers!

To an extent, I do believe this to be true. But not to the point of fabricating a tale completely divorced from reality. Now that we have numbers from other countries around the world, we're getting a clearer picture. So if you don't trust China's numbers, feel free to look at other countries. Take their culture, sanitation standards, total population, and wealth into account when trying to understand their numbers - no two countries are the same. But the general theme these numbers give off is:

>Virus has been spreading undetected under our noses for quite some time.
See Italy - numbers only skyrocket seemingly overnight because widespread testing begins and reveals that there are a lot of carriers that were walking around unconfirmed.

>Virus isn't really deadly
In every country, we're seeing recoveries vastly outnumber mortality. Some countries are testing more than others, and their numbers mimic the early low-sample size of China's back in January. But with each passing day we see confirmed recoveries outperforming mortality, even despite strict prerequisites for testing in many countries.

>Elderly are fucked but most other demographics are fine
No escaping this one really. Elderly are inherently more susceptible to falling from an illness than any other age group. This is unfortunate, but not surprising nor really a reason to panic. They'd drop like flies at similar rates if the entire elderly population lacked the flu vaccine. Without a vaccine, the only way to protect the elderly is to quarantine so that they are isolated from carriers of the virus. Hence, mass quarantine is an appropriate response for any country that cares about their elderly population. We don't quarantine for the flu because we push vaccinations onto the elderly every year for it. We don't have that luxury right now, so they're at risk if they come into contact with someone who's young enough to only experience a slight cough.

The flu has what Covid19 does not - a vaccine. People like to dunk on antivaxxers for their stupidity and yet fail to take into account just how important vaccines are at preventing the spread and severity of diseases.

Of course it has a lower transition and mortality rate - otherwise our vaccines are fucking pointless.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/vaccines-work/vaccineeffect.htm

>during 2017-2018, flu vaccination prevented an estimated 6.2 million influenza illnesses, 3.2 million influenza-associated medical visits, 91,000 influenza-associated hospitalizations, and 5,700 influenza-associated deaths.

Corona-chan barely makes a dent in those numbers. Granted, it's over the period of a year, but considering the flu is seasonal we can safely assume that they're almost comparable with one another.

So if we had a vaccine for Covid19, it's not unlikely that its numbers would level out with influenza.

>>17670571
Eh, I don't thjink that's why he's scared of testing. I think he's scared of testing because he's trying his best to keep the stock market under control for his election. He's assuming (probably rightfully so) that when the weather warms up, the virus will spread significantly less. So with spring around the corner, if he buys enough time he can probably say "See, we have the best health standards in the world. We prevented the spread of this disease hugely, and the country has never been safer! With an infection rate lower than any other confirmed country in the world, we truly have kept America great!" etc. etc.

If he was worried about his voter base falling like flies (remember - even though they're more at risk it doesn't mean they're dying left and right. 14% mortality is still less than a quarter of confirmed infected within the age group) I'd assume he'd actually push for mass quarantine to protect them. I think he's gambling on sacrificing a very small percentage of his voter base for a stronger footing in 2020 debates.

>it's just the flu bro!
Reasonal flu mortality rate is 0.05% +/- 0.04%, kills so few healthy people it's essentially 0% for them, and even for the sickly the rate is still so low it must be estimated statistically years after the fact by 'abnormal' death rates among that cohort. Corona-chan's mortality rate on the other hand (even using massaged chicom numbers) is 0.2%-15%. SARS-CoV-2 literally has a higher mortality rate among the young and healthy than flu has amount the sick and elderly.

Remember, 40 MILLION US flu inflections/year, when (not if) corona-chan starts hitting those numbers, even a 1.0% mortality rate means hundreds of thousands dead.

>flu vaccine is pretty new
Are we speaking in relative terms or what? Last I checked, the vaccine was created back in the 30's. Even if you were a boomer, the vaccine was literally invented before you were even born.

You know what's "pretty new?" The data you're reading.Data that's too new to not be biased towards mortality rate. Because it takes less than a day to die from an illness, and your death has a much higher chance of being investigated. Conversely, it can take a week or more to recover from a virus, and there's grater chance your illness will not be investigated and make it into the statistics, especially when dealing with limited resources on such a small time scale.

It's a painfully naive and elementary mistake to assume that the mortality rate with proportionately scale with infection considering we don't have a solid estimate established yet.

Reading data may not be your strong suit. It's not enough to just look at numbers, you also need to contextualize it to make full sense of what's going on.

Smooth brain.

By the CDC's own numbers flu vaccines only prevent ~6k flu deaths/year. Without the flu vaccine flu mortality barely budges ~21.5k versus 19k (10-33k without vaccine 4-27k with) and mortality rate doesn't fall AT ALL

You are a delusional fucking retard
