>big cities
Wow the exact same dirty overcrowded cramped hive copy-pasted hundreds of times across the globe! I'm sure that at the end of your life you'll be happy you spent your limited time and money going to sardine-can like complexes to see slightly differing configurations of tall buildings, poor people slums, druggies at clubs, and trash-laden public transportation.
>go on hikes
Pointless walking around for hours, getting nowhere and achieving nothing except staring at some stupid trees and rocks and the "rare three-striped red finch" that looks exactly like a regular fucking finch but it has a tiny red line somewhere on its plumage and thus you have seen an amazing endangered beast and this thousand-dollar excursion is the "experience of a lifetime".
>muh museums, muh ruins
Any historical, architectural, or artistic value can easily be analyzed through a picture, which is all you'll have left anyways in a couple months or years. There's nothing you gain from actually seeing them except pointless, self-masturbatory egoism gained from feeling "cultured" (read : going to stare at some rocks for a couple hours and blowing your hard-earned money to give it to the tour guide, someone much smarter than you)
>muh food
An utter meme, what kind of double-digit moron gets excited over what is ultimately just a rearrangement of grain, meats, vegetables, and spices that will be shit out by you in a couple days anyways. If you willingly spend your money "travelling" to eat "exotic" food you could just drive 40 minutes to get you deserve to lose it.
>muh weather
Is there a more pathetic "argument"? You could be doing literally anything else, yet you go "travelling" to get an effect easily accomplished by turning the thermostat up or down a few notches or getting a humidifier.
>woahhh bro its a few degrees higher ugghhh i love travelling its so exotiiccc!!!

I spend about half the year “traveling.” But yes, traveling the meme is fake and gay. I don’t have Instagram, i hate tourist traps, posting selfies and i hate “traveling” (the meme). However, I love coming to Europe/eastern europe for months at a stretch. I bought a house in Ukraine for $15k. It’s nice, it has a garden, it’s my own. I live like a guest worker in America; I come, I work nonstop for a few months saving every penny and living like a Moldovan student on work holiday. Then, I invest the majority and take the rest of the year off relaxing in Ukraine, Poland, Sweden (sometimes), Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Iceland, Germany etc etc I love it. I have so much free time to catch up on sleep, exercise, self improvement, reading, living.... what say you? Am I wasting my money? I could never go back to $2,000 a month rent and year round wage cage. Don’t buy the travel meme but also don’t miss out on just how affordable life can be outside of the west. Living is important

To obtain new experiences and gain perspective on all the stuff in the world. Me personally I don’t like to travel unless it involves a physical experience. Mountain biking, skiing, fishing, camping, etc. I guess I don’t mind see a new place and just exploring and shooting the shit with locals, but I much prefer having a plan to do something and a goal to achieve. Unfortunately travel has become a total meme due to IG and social media but it is what it is. You should be living your life for you and your friends/family anyway, not random strangers on the internet

>> No.17619433

There are two types of travel. One where you are young and the goal is personal experience and expand your outlook. I did it with friends in my 20s. Some was good some as bad, it wasnt comfortable most of the time. A lot of organizing bs to deal with like managing travel accommodation and money etc

Second type of travel I do with my wife now where we buy into some kind of package trip where it's like a ride and we just sit in the middle of it and get a luxury experience. It's like a
travel show but irl. I love it and even if you don't give a fuck about the place you are going the nice hotels, the food, and environments make it an enjoyable experience. I think my
ext ine will be a Whiskey Japan tour. Never need to think about shit just enjoy the trip and being guided.

https://www.olx.ua/nedvizhimost/doma/berdyansk/?currency=USD

I'm planning on buying a rental property near the sea soon for like 40k and airbnb it out to americans/britbongs in the summer. might even buy a small cafe or something to run myself and move there full time one day. just don't come and get all carried away by the women like some virgin faggot (like a lot of loser boomer incels who come to ukraine to embarrass us fellow visitors ), make guy friends and meet people through them. You can make fun of faggots, they don't have feminism or gay pride there yet like they do in the west. You can literally yell the N word anywhere in public and people will just laugh and high five you. it's a great culture, it's just that the economy is wrecked, so there are some annoying hang ups from time to time. also, learn a bit of russian before you go, people will respect you for it

Different peoples or cultures have different approaches to life and living.

Think, have you ever had "ethnic food"? Do you like mexican food, chinese food, indian food, etc.? That's just a convenient example of how we have the same concept (eating) but different cultures approach it entirely differently and come up with different approaches and results. And you'll sometimes find you really like that result, and you may choose to adopt some features or things about that style of doing things.

Same goes for every facet of living. People approach living and everything within it in different ways. Travel is a way of sourcing these new ideas

however, what is the point of saving money in the first place?
if it is to save as much as you can until you die? - then what happens to it?
do you leave it all to to a child who intends to spends it all?
do you leave it all to someone who saves every penny until they die and pass it on, etc.?
If you think that reason we save money in the first place is so that we can spend it in the future, then who are you to say that travel is a 'waste' of money.
Ultimately, i think it depends on your personal ethics and philosophical outlook on life as to whether spending money on travel is a waste.

Depends how you travel. When I travel, it's usually on little to no money, hitch hiking, staying at free spots like Couch Surfing, Global Freeloaders, or often after just meeting people wherever I am travelling to from, checking out local spaces there, and finding a place to crash as a result. Air travel is also very cheap now, and you can get almost anywhere in USA round trip for $40 to $150, and often times international from $300 to $500. People think of travel as hotels and tourist traps, but that is pleb shit, and in the past 10 years, with about 3 years total being take by travel, I've never once paid to stay anywhere while travelling. If anything, I spend much less travelling that not, as I sublet and am not paying rent, utilities, etc. during these times.

As for why, its because it breaks you out of your normal boring life and puts you into places with new people, groups, environments, spaces, etc.. You meet a ton of cool people, explore, and experience novelty and excitement, instead of sitting in front of screens all day. Doing this helps open up your worldview and ground you, on return. I often travel when I feel like I am a rut for this reason, as it helps break me out of it, and get my priorities straight when I return. I've also built up large stacks of journals and drives full of photography from the past 10 years of travels and moves, which very nicely outline my 20's, in everything from different groups I was working with, to places I lived and visited, to old girlfriends and friends, tons of nature and architecture photography, etc., and I'm sure I will appreciate this when I get older.
