Nervos is unironically undervalued at this point. The market just hasn't woken up to it yet. Go ahead and look at it. It's entirely unpumped and below presale price. Insiders have unironically been accumulating this for a reason.

It's PoW with a dao you can stake it to take part in the inflation. This alone says something compared to all that erc20 template shit you see around here. They built the thing from the ground up to be tailored for layer 2 things. None of this BTC and ETH style frankensteining shit we got going on.

Even if you don't like the things i'm saying, you literally cannot deny this is going to FLY in the event of a 2017 alt season. The name of the game now is to get the alts that will do that and accumulate them because we all know it's just a matter of time. Nervos is a clear winner, especially if bought under 1 cent.

Few understand the Nervos DAO. Here's a primer : https://medium.com/nervosnetwork/nervos-dao-explained-95e33898b1c

I'd expect the CKByte to be a fuel + payment web for all sorts of crazy shit soon. There are a ton of speculatory use-cases, but "store of value" usually is a meme until it reaches some sort of peak and stable value.

"If the foundational goal of Nervos is to be a good store of value, the native asset—CKByte—must possess enough value to effectively store the assets that are on the network, even as the number and value of those assets grows over time. You might store toys in a cardboard box, but valuables like jewelry need something more secure, like a safe. In the same way, Nervos must be able to securely store assets of the highest value over time. So in a real sense, the CKByte token is a representation of the value of storage itself."

"What matters is that the currency be used reliably, in exchange for goods. As money, an asset can only really succeed if people are willing to accept it as having value. And to achieve this, the currency must have four characteristics: censorship resistance, decentralization, sustainability, and high security.

The CKByte possesses all four characteristics. As Nervos CKB gains adoption and hosts more user-defined tokens, its security will increase in tandem. It is censorship-resistant as a Proof-of-Work blockchain. It is decentralized as a public, permissionless chain that anyone can join or leave, and that anyone can mine. And it’s sustainable because it doesn’t rely exclusively on block rewards to compensate participants."

"The native CKByte token must always have enough value to store all of the custom tokens on the network securely. This is achieved through an innovative token economics model, intended to solve problems, like state bloat, that threaten other blockchains. If a developer creates a new token on Nervos that people acquire, those people must store the token using CKBytes. So any time demand for a custom token arises, demand for the native CKByte token should increase as well as a result of this storage requirement. This in turn increases the security of all storage on the network, resulting in a self-sustaining cycle."

Okay, fuck it. I'm in for 500K. If it dips hard for some reason (BTC?) i'll cross 1M and stick it in the DAO for a year.

Nervos CKB as the Infrastructure for NFTs

Nervos itself, though, is agnostic to these challenges. What we have built is a network, a foundation, that is almost infinitely flexible and capable of handling assets of virtually any value. It is up to developers to put their vision into action on top of Nervos CKB and build NFT solutions that solve the needs of their specific use cases. Undoubtedly, some will be digital like CryptoKitties or crypto-art assets. More than likely, others will be devoted to items in the physical world, like fine art, identity, or real estate. Whatever solutions arise, Nervos CKB is designed to offer the most robust and usable infrastructure to support them.

NFTs are a clear use case for a multi-layer blockchain, and we would not be surprised if they found a home on Nervos CKB — which is specifically designed to solve their biggest challenges. But NFTs are still just one of many important aspects of Nervos that we explore in this series. The next installment will look at Nervos’s innovative token economics. Please check this page for regular updates over the coming weeks.

"Non-digital NFTs present challenges not faced by their digital-only counterparts. They correspond to items in the physical world — as in the example of the diamond ring — and can range in size from something tiny, like jewelry, all the way up to commercial real estate properties. The added challenge around non-digital NFTs is in connecting something in the physical world to a blockchain in a way that is sufficiently secure. Being written to a blockchain is all well and good, but of little help if the physical identifier is a simple QR code that can be easily copied."

If you really want the CKB pill, read this : https://talk.nervos.org/t/blockchain-and-state-explosion/1566

"When we solve the scalability problem, and the blockchain technology really gets mass adoption, we will have numbers of DApps and users, what speed will the blockchain historical state or current state accumulate?

This is the state explosion problem, we classify it as a post-scalability problem. Because it will emerge obviously after solving the scalability problem. We noticed this problem when doing the permission chain project, because the performance of the permission chain is much higher than the public chain, and it’s just in the post-scalability phase.

Relatively speaking, handling the accumulation of historical data is easy. We can compress these states by decentralized Checkpoint or zero-knowledge proof in the future. And we can even drop the historical state and still keep the blockchain running normally.

Some Blockchain projects have seen this problem and proposed some solutions. EOS RAM is a useful attempt to solve the state explosion problem: RAM represents the available memory resources for the supernode server, whether account, contract status or code should take a certain amount of EOS RAM to run.

But the design of RAM also has problems. It needs to be purchased through the built-in trading market, it is not transferable, it cannot be rented, and the short-term memory demand in the contract execution process and the long-term storage requirement of the contract state are mixed together.

And the total amount of RAM has no fixed rules, it more depends on the hardware configuration that the supernode can withstand, but not the cost of the consensus space.

Ethereum community also noticed this problem and proposed Storage Rent solution: requiring users to prepay a rent for the storage resources, which will continue to consume the rent when using the storage resource. The longer it takes, the more rent the user needs to pay."

>> No.17409569

>>17409525
“CKB inherits the ideas of Bitcoin’s architecture and creates the Cell model from generalizing the UTXO model, retaining the consistency and simplicity of Bitcoin. In Nervos CKB, all the states are stored in Cells, all computation is done off-chain, and all the verification work is handled by nodes.”

>> No.17409574

"Why is CKB better?

We now have a basic data structure that is quite different from others and have designed a unique economic model on it. Is this really better? Maybe we can obtain some inspiration from the three questions raised at the very beginning of this article.

The Tragedy of the (Storage) Commons and the loss of decentralization caused by State Explosion

Capacity is an asset native to CKB with its supply restricted by the pre-defined rules. It is also a unit of measurement for state. The amount of capacity determines how much data can be stored on CKB, i.e., the maximum state space of CKB. This means that the state stored on CKB is limited by the total amount of capacity. Hence, CKB is unlikely to suffer from state explosion. As long as capacity is issued appropriately, the network can maintain its decentralized properties indefinitely. Every Cell is independent and has a specific owner. This privatizes the state space that has served as a kind of public resource, ensuring that precious consensus space can be utilized more effectively.

The lack of flexibility and scalability due to the coupling of computation and verification

As a General Verification Network, CKB separates computation and verification, making each more flexible and scalable. More computation is executed on the user side, closer to their data, as well as application usage. Data can be processed more flexibly and with more diverse tools. With CKB’s architecture, wallets can have more power and capabilities. At the verification stage, it is easier to analyze the dependencies of transactions and execute transactions in parallel given that the results of computation have already been confirmed."
